  1. You get them okay Rock? They used to have them online to download. I see no reason not to heave them for current instructors on login....
  2. She's an admin here, look her up her forum name is @Molly B. Send her a PM message. Also, there are some lawyers here too perhaps check out Fred https://www.williamsnickl.com/practice/illinois-foid-card-appeals-denials-reinstatement-lawyers/#:~:text=Call 312-335-9470 Today,Greater Chicago and throughout Illinois. Reps who could help John Cabello https://www.ilga.gov/house/rep.asp?GA=103&MemberID=3239 Dave Syverson https://senatordavesyverson.com/ Good luck
  3. Maybe not smart, but if the perps opened fire first, then there is no violation. I just install a manual kill switch on all my vehicles. If they get around the anti-theft on the car it will not start anyway. A simple $5 switch in a hidden spot is all it takes. I have found someone who stole my car, before the switch trick, I just followed at a distance until the cops took over. This was years and years ago, when we had enough of them and they were aggressive about enforcement. heck, a lot of the time now, they just tell you to come in and fill out report and get a case ID. They don't even roll out.
  4. South Il is a completely different state. The further you get from Chicago the less bat-sh8t crazy you have.
  5. Molly, may be able to help, since this all should have been over after you did it the first time. My knowledge, it should never have been revoked even at FOID level as this was over the 5yr limit: https://isp.illinois.gov/FoidCardReviewBoard/FOIDMentalHealth#:~:text=If your Firearm Owner's Identification, your firearm possession rights restored As for the review board, they are like a year or more out if I remember correctly. I think I would talk to Dave Sev or John Cabello. John has helped in the past.... To me this looks like a case where the law was improperly applied and you shouldn't have needed to do any of that sh8t to begin with. Good luck
  6. More for JTHunter Under 21 still get a FOID. Yes, I know there was a bill floating, but to my knowledge it's still okay for under 21. As to FOID card, there is more. To get a FOID under 21 you need permission from parent/guardian, or other loco parentis. Also, their permission notarized. The under 21 may not have convictions for pretty much anything other than speeding tickets. Adjudged delinquent etc Also, the parent// must qualify for a FOID card or have a FOID card and if at any time the parent// becomes prohibited, so does the person who they sponsored. Okay for under 21 take CC class, but follow FOID rules to do so. IE instructor, or someone with FOID transport etc. If I am under 21 years of age, but I am married, can my spouse sign as my sponsor? No. A parent or someone who has been appointed as your legal guardian by court order must be your sponsor. There is a limited military exception to 21 for active duty. If I am not 21 years of age, my parents are not living or are not eligible to be FOID sponsors, but am in the military, can I obtain a FOID Card? Yes. The ISP can waive the sponsor requirement. Minors who are active duty military must also submit their Orders annually to the ISP for their FOID card to remain valid. I also agree if you are old enough to go to war, then we don't take away the guns when you return, unless there are mental factors which create a danger to self or others.
  7. @ragsbo No, that depends on the position of the rig, in fact this is the most concealable, non printing way I carry. I'm a big guy, so this has something to do with it as well. I float the belt fasteners, so the firearm will slide forward a bit when I lean forward. This prevents it from sticking out the back and also brings it closer to my hand. As I said, each to their own and I am not advocating anyone use this type of rig, I'm saying it works well for me in winter. A lightweight shirt in summer, could negate it's stealth properties as you suggest. The heavy garments of winter make it invisible. In summer, I do right hip primary, left ankle backup. Carry on
  8. Arnold was the star of that show, that and Eddie climbing that damn pole to use the phone! Also, Mr. H... good stuff.
  9. @Mikey, I hear you Mike, I have a custom rig and have tested, and am comfortable. The snap is protected and I'm good with it. The position is about 45 degrees, it is a horiz rig, but has lots of adjustment. It's made by Craft Holsters and is a work of art in itself. https://www.craftholsters.com/leather-shoulder-holster-system I wouldn't try and convince anyone to use this type of rig, in fact I tell all students it is not something I would recommend for them. My biggest concerns are pointing the gun at people behind you, and sweeping people when drawing and acquiring the target. One also needs to take care not to sweep yourself when drawing. The 45 degree, muzzle down, limits rearward sweep, but does not eliminate it. It does have weak points, but so does any holster or carry system without proper training. JQ
  10. I run a Beretta full size with a Holo on it and it does make it easy to rack and you can use it to do one hand racks in an emergency. My one concern is putting stress on the optic causing it to become out of alignment. I'm beating mine pretty good to see if it moves. Love the optic for older eyes, besides, I shot an optic in USPSA Open for years. My gun has been milled to seat the optic lower and also help keep it locked in. Some of the newer guns come milled for them from the factory. It does make the firearm take up more space and limits carry options. No two people are alike, it's up to you to try the options and find out what works for you. In my younger days, I would never have considered a should holster and tell my students to avoid them unless they really have there sh8t wired. In the winter and when seated, this is a great option with some notable safety issues. I used to carry the 17+1 with one spare mag. Since I had to go with 15 round mags I go 15+1 and two extra mags on the other side, so now instead of carrying 35 rounds, I carry 46 rounds. If a $14 ring on the slide works for you then great. If you carry a backup micro, a tip-up would be a great option.
  11. Should also apply to CCL processing as they had millions in surplus. Since it's a fee, it should only be for the amount it costs. It's well over that.
  12. I don't like that either, a friend uses a U-Sonic to clean. It works for him, but is an added expense, if you don't have one already. I like revolvers, they work, and if it doesn't go bang, just pull again; They are easy to load, they don't jam and you don't need ninja skills to clear jams. Cleaning is a snap. I do like the smaller tip versions, which you can remove the slide to clean. Some of the mini/micro Beretta model point great and shoot well. In you case, a 12 ring sounds like a good, "KISS," solution. Carry-On JQ
  13. You could look at some tip-up options too.
  14. I'm in Rockford Hawk which is about 2hr or so away. If you can't find anything closer I'll take you through it for the range fee. $25 Hit me with a PM if you need me. JQ
  15. Police parking lots are out, you could have it in the car, but not outside of it. Police are part of the, "Executive branch." ICCL prohibits carrying there. JQ
  16. I've heard, from students, where the date of the CCL expired 5yrs, from the date it was issued. Hence, they lost a couple months. This is second person, so I have no 1st hand of this. What I do know is as long as it's in before the deadline, it's all good and my card has no date, so I prefer to wait until a week or two before. JQ
  17. It's defacto, if there is s felony on your record, you can't get a FOID. With it being expunged, you no longer have a felony on your record. You see what I mean here? They don't talk about expunged, but they don't need to do so, they only talk about the felony. If a conviction was sealed... it would still pop as a felony, but the details would be masked. Long story short, the sealed stuff, if felonious, would need to be expunged too. If it's a, domestic, and you entered a plea, or were convicted, you are hosed. JQ
  18. I'm going to keep my reply to the OPs question, and not go off on what I think they should do otherwise. If it's in a case locked out of sight of the public, even with someone in the car, they are not in possession of said firearm. Firearms do NOT need to be in the trunk when stored in a restricted, or other, carry zone. They need to be locked in a case out of public view. To answer what you asked, IMO there is no issue with leaving the other in a car having it locked in the box. It matters not if you are in a prohibited place, what matters... it's out of sight and in a box with the lock, and the other doesn't have access to the firearm. So it needs to be in a case, and a lock between the firearm and the public. That could mean a locked door and a glovebox( not a good idea, but legal) but if you had someone in the vehicle, without CCL, then they couldn't have access so the lock would have to prevent one on the inside of the car from accessing the firearm. One thing you need to know is that all prohibited places are not the same. Federal is another deal, you may not have a loaded firearm on federal property with few exceptions. In such cases, it doesn't matter if you have it in a locked box, or not. Also, the glove box and console are NOT considered carry containers under federal law; however they are in the State of Illinois. There's more, but I'm at my typing limit. I hope this answers you original question.... JQ
