  1. Excellent! Is there a point of contact for whoever set that up?
  2. Gallatin County wasn't interested when I checked last year. That'll be revisited soon....
  3. Excellent graphics, gents: http://gunrightswatch.com/news/2019/06/25/illinois/the-illinois-sanctuary-counties-movement-animated/?fbclid=IwAR2Ktjcn0cES7g4ozwUV7vwijU9_wDYAn3gHX5o5vQFxxZa1469zPM6_ldY
  4. That's even better! More than 3/5 of the state, not to mention an even dozen SAs who won't prosecute for specious violations of SB107. Ideally, the overwhelming majority of the state does the same, to offset the the Chicago area and northern IL anti-firearm contingent. The dozen state's attorney who have publicly come out for nullification are just the tip of the iceberg. Twice that many have indicated agreement privately. If they would come out publicly, that would be even better, because it would add momentum and weight to the whole legal aspect of it. If eventually a large majority of SAs tell the State that they aren't going to enforce unconstitutional laws, and stick to their guns if push comes to shove, then it would be a game-changer. We're working on it...stay tuned.

  6. GIMP https://www.gimp.org/Wonderful open source application for image editing. Also, updated map with star for Richland.Map_of_Illinois_Gun_Sanctuary_ Counties.2019.05.06.png**More applause**
  7. Ordinarily, I'd suspect that the board appointments are empty, but Jeremy Margolis' bio on his law firm's site lists him as current chair of the review board. That doesn't necessarily mean that they're meeting and reviewing anything, though.Interesting, it appears that Jeremy is still sporting his ISP lapel in pin on his official bio pic.
  8. That and more is in Rep Willis HB0096 floor amendment filed yesterday. FOID card good for 5 years. Apps apply in person at State Police facility, etc.Keep an eye on that one...word is they may be trying to push that through ASAP.
  9. Kevin, the Johnson County State's Attorney made a public statement in favor in a Southern Illinoisan article cited in a different thread. It can be starred.
  10. Is it possible to add a symbol/ star? do designate counties with state's attorneys who have publicly declared they will protect Constitutional rights in their county?Williamson, White, Effingham, Jasper, a few others, I think. Perry, Johnson, Madison (I think), a couple others.
  11. This is the referendum I wrote for White County. It was approved unanimously by the board, went to vote, and was passed 86%-14%: RESOLUTION TO PRESENT AN ADVISORY PUBLIC QUESTION VIA A COUNTYWIDE REFERENDUM IN THE MATTER OF SUPPORTING THE CIVIL RIGHTS OF FIREARM OWNERS WHEREAS, the White County Board opposes the passage of any bill where the Illinois General Assembly desires to restrict the individual rights of U.S. Citizens as protected in the United States Constitution, WHEREAS, the Right of the People to Keep and Bear Arms is guaranteed as an individual right under the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution and under the Constitution of the State of Illinois, and; WHEREAS, the Right of the People to Keep and Bear Arms for defense of Life, Liberty, and Property is regarded as an Inalienable Right by the People of White County, Illinois, and as stated in the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution “…being necessary to the security of a Free State.” WHEREAS, the Rights enumerated under the Fourth, Fifth, and Fourteenth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution, as well as numerous Sections enumerated in Article I of the Illinois Constitution have been threatened, and: WHEREAS, the People of White County, Illinois derive economic benefit from all safe forms of firearms recreation, hunting, and shooting conducted within the county using all types of arms allowable under the United States Constitution, and; WHEREAS, the White County Board, being elected to represent the People of the County and being duly sworn by the Oath of Office to uphold the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Illinois, and; WHEREAS, the Illinois House of Representatives and the Illinois Senate, being elected by the People of the State of Illinois and being duly sworn by the Oath of Office to uphold the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Illinois, and; WHEREAS, the Governor of Illinois, being elected to represent the People of the State of Illinois, and being duly sworn by the Oath of Office to uphold the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Illinois, and; WHEREAS, any bills under consideration by the Illinois legislature which would infringe on the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, and would ban the possession and use of firearms, magazines, body armor, and related items by peaceable citizens of White County, Illinois for defense of Life, Liberty, and Property and would ban the possession and use of arms now employed for safe forms of recreation, hunting, and shooting conducted within White County, Illinois; WHEREAS, in order to ensure the voices of the People of White County, Illinois are heard in Springfield, and throughout the State and Nation, the White County Board seeks to place an advisory public question before the electorate via a REFERENDUM on the November 6, 2018 ballot seeking to inform the Illinois General Assembly that the People of White County, Illinois OPPOSE any and all legislation which would infringe upon the Constitutional Rights of the People of White County Illinois to Keep and Bear Arms. “The People of White County, Illinois are OPPOSED to all attempts by the Illinois General Assembly, in violation of their Oath of Office, to infringe upon the Constitutional Right of the PEOPLE to Keep and Bear Arms.” [ ] Yes [ ] No NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the White County, Illinois Board that the aforementioned advisory question be presented to the electorate via a countywide referendum on the November 6, 2018 ballot; and approved by vote, the results forwarded by the Clerk of White County to the Illinois House of Representatives, Illinois Senate, and Office of the Governor.
  12. The force multiplier is the masses of people voting directly against the unconstitutionality in ballot referenda. Of the 18 counties who put it to a vote in November, 2018, *ALL 18* voted in favor by an average of nearly 80%. What do registered voters also represent? Jury pools. What police, prosecutor, or judge thinks it would be wise to push garbage legislation when over 3/4 of the citizens of their counties (who elect and retain them) would toss bogus charges on their fellow citizens and hold the officials accountable? We can't change the makeup of the legislature nor resident of the mansion overnight. What we can and must do is continue to drive forward in county by county nullification to thwart highly unconstitutional bills being brought out and enforced. Additionally, since my own state's attorney (Brandon Zanotti/Williamson County) was one of the first to publicly announce it, we have BIPARTISAN support for our efforts. Dozens of others statewide privately support what we are doing.
  13. The next step is nullification: enforcement, prosecutorial, and judicial. Once rational facts are presented to state's attorneys and sheriffs we have had good luck securing public pronouncements in opposition to unconstitutional legislation. Effingham County's state's attorney added his public support on Sunday as well: https://www.wsj.com/articles/rural-sheriffs-defy-new-gun-measures-11552230000
  14. You assume that the general public knows and or cares about the gun sanctuaries. Since hundreds of thousands of people just voted on it - they do now! Doesn't mean they know what it is, most no votes were likely due to the fact that it said "gun". I support the 2A heavily and didn't even have a clue this was on the ballot until I voted. Never have I ever heard it mentioned in any of my shooting circles and we have some certified gun nuts. All it shows is a divide amongst gun owners and non at the polls, our split was roughly 60/40. I doubt "my peers said this is unconstitutional" is going to get anyone off the hook. heck, counties are still ringing people up on homerule laws that were preempted by the ccw law. I'm not arguing, I'm just seriously trying to see the point of declaring a county a gun sanctuary. The divide in police officers is very similar to the red vs blue voting demographic maps in the 2016 elections. It's mostly urban vs rural. Most rural coppers are very proud gun, most urban are the opposite. I had a student last week in Tennessee who was a Boston PD Sergeant. He concurred, as have those we've taught from NYPD, Chicago PD, Detroit PD, etc. As for the word getting out, yes, it's been slow, HOWEVER, we're over 50 counties now and that is no small thing. We need to keep reaching out to sheriff's, states attorneys, police chiefs, and individual L.E. officers to encourage them to abide by their oaths. You'd be surprised how receptive many are. I've personally talked to two states attorneys who are completely onboard.

  16. technical, the (mostly) unspoken strength is a warning to prosectors that if charges are brought for unconstitutional gun laws, the overwhelming mass of their prospective jurors will opt for jury nullification, and either refuse to indict, return verdicts of not guilty, or go to a hung jury. It also gives support to law enforcement officers who side with constitutionality and refuse to arrest for bogus offenses.
  17. I'm looking forward to Kevin's next map...heh, heh, heh.
  18. Good for Shawna! It looks like she had half the L.E. in Wabash County speak in her favor.

  20. Williamson County, good turnout, lots of media and speakers. Ballot referendum - failed, no 2nd to the motion. Resolution - PASSED 3-0, pretty much the Effingham County version without the term "sanctuary." Williamson County can now be officially colored GREEN.
