Problem is all the guide rods I see offered specifically indicate they're for .45 or 9mm applications but say nothing about 10mm.

Would a standard full length guide rod for a .45 and 20-22# springs work in the 10mm?

Vender Arguments Against Shipping to Chicago

• Referencing Illinois Statute 430 ILCS 65/13.1 [https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ilcs/documents/043000650K13.1.htm]
  With the new Public Act 102-538 [https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/publicacts/fulltext.asp?Name=102-0538] is effective August 20, 2021. This references the possession and transportation of ammunition by a holder of a valid FOID card. It states the State has exclusive authority over “handguns and ammunition for a handgun” and “the transportation of any firearm and ammunition by a FOID holder….” That is about carrying/transporting, not commercial shipment by a seller via common carrier to a consumer address.
   
• Referencing Chicago Municipal Code 8-20-100(b)
  In the past, Chicago Municipal Code 8-20-100(b) by way of Chicago Ordinance SO2013-6015 [https://chicityclerkelms.chicago.gov/Matter/?matterId=C86D1C2B-E00D-ED11-82E3-001DD80693B4] read “No ammunition may be sold or otherwise transferred within the city, except through a licensed weapons dealer, or as otherwise allowed by this code.”
  
  CURRENTLY, the Chicago Municipal Code 8-20-100 has been amended as of June 25, 2014, and NO LONGER CONTAINS this language [https://codelibrary.amlegal.com/codes/chicago/latest/chicago_il/0-0-0-2644532]. This removed the restriction to purchase ammunition within Municipal Code 8-20-100. [https://chicityclerkelms.chicago.gov/Matter/?matterId=410CA95A-E00D-ED11-82E3-001DD80698CB].

Below are references that SUPPORT out-of-state ammunition purchase and shipment to an Illinois resident, including a City of Chicago residential address.

430 ILCS 65/ Firearm Owners Identification Card Act - https://www.ilga.gov/Legislation/ILCS/Articles?ActID=1657&ChapterID=39

1. FOID Act: express authorization to buy ammo from out-of-state and have it shipped
   430 ILCS 65 (FOID Act), Section 3(b-5) provides:
   Any resident may purchase ammunition from a person within or outside of Illinois” if shipment is by U.S. mail or an authorized private express carrier.
   The buyer must provide the seller a copy of a valid FOID or valid CCL, and an Illinois driver’s license or Illinois State ID, prior to shipment."
   Shipment address restriction: the ammo “may be shipped only to an address on either of those 2 documents.” 
   
   That is the clearest statutory “green light” for an out-of-state vendor shipping ammunition to an Illinois resident (including a Chicago address) so long as the destination address matches the FOID/CCL or IL DL/ID.
    

2. FOID Act: “transfer of firearm ammunition” framework

   The same section continues with:

   a statement that “provisions … regarding the transfer of firearm ammunition shall not apply” to specified exempt persons. 

    

   This isn’t a separate “shipping authorization,” but it confirms the FOID Act is directly regulating ammunition transfer (which is what a shipment sale is), and it anchors the shipment rule above inside the broader transfer framework. 

    

3. FOID Act preemption clause (supports uniformity for handgun ammo / FOID holder transportation)

   If the vendor’s rationale is “Chicago has stricter rules,” 430 ILCS 65/13.1(b) states the State has exclusive authority over:

   “handguns and ammunition for a handgun,” and “transportation of any firearm and ammunition by a FOID holder,”

   and that inconsistent older local restrictions are invalid as applied to FOID holders. 

    

   Again: this is not itself a shipping-permission clause, but it is a supporting statewide-uniformity provision that helps counter a “Chicago-specific” justification—especially where the product is handgun ammunition.

This stuff goes on for a while. If a few negligent users shoot themselves, it's the firearm's fault, according to some prominent anti-gunners. The article likens the P320 cases to the Remington 700 recall a few years ago, among other things.

With all of that in mind, I added a Holosun EPS carry to my Glock 43 carry pistol. I liked it and shot very well with it. Putting close to 1k rounds made me feel really good about it. I did add a red dot to my home defense pistol. A month later, when I took it to the range, I was annoyed that it did not work. I replaced the battery and it still did not work and had to send it back to Holosun who took two months to send me a replacement, but they did! I have since added suppressor height sights to that gun as a backup. 

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE! 

I recently scored a HK CC9. I am just starting to use it at the range to gain some proficiency with it, and so far, I am not thinking about adding a RedDot to it. Hmmmmm. Was it just my sight selection on my Glock 43 that was the issue? I had upgraded to a popular brand's tritium sights. But the stock blacked out read and white dot tritium on the HK are easy for me to acquire and get on target. 

Just curious about other folks' preferences and journey with the popular optical sighting systems. 

For me I realized:
The mags are too small to grab, orient, and quickly reload. Maybe it’s my Simpson fingers, not cartman fingers. It’s a single stack 8 round capacity.

I think I would like using a normal size pistol, that is probably banned in Illinois because our politicians are just plain stupid!

And I learned I really done like IWB holsters so I might need to relocate to an open carry state. 
 

Now I have a whole list of 💩 that a concealed pistol needs to meet other than fits the hand well and is “concealable”. 
 

Is this true that I can't purchase it? I thought I will be OK as long as I'm in the legal limit.

Problem? Nope - Amazon and $15 got me a dovetail plate for my budget RMR dot sight of choice, the $106 Cyelee CT2. Just tap out the OEM plastic rear sight, tap in the plate, loctite the set screws and VOILA! Red dot equipped non-MOS Glock. I also am enjoying the $12 Tactical slide rack assist.
