I am an avid gun rights advocate being involved in the movement in Illinois since 2012 and became one of the very first Concealed Carry instructors to be certified by the Illinois State Police in 2013.
Thomas is also a proud father and husband, having said, "The only things more important than 2nd Amendment issues and gun rights are my wife and kids."

Sure they will toe the party line, but only if their voting base lets them. Let me reiterate something I said in my last comment... OUR voices, meaning Republican voters, are meaningless in the gun debate. What we need is for Democratic gun owners to stand up and voice opposition. Then and only then will democrat politicians listen, maybe. We, Republican gun owners, need to find a way to build bridges with the Democrat gun owners. But instead, we gatekeep and start bashing them over the head about issues unrelated to gun rights and firearm freedoms.

A pro-2a governor is absolutely powerless when nearly the entire legislature is anti-2a. There's not much an executive can do unilaterally. Not all gun owners are single-issue voters. Some say Bailey lost the last election due to his abortion stance. He will probably lose it this time due to immigration. I know many union members who voted against Rauner in his second run because their unions scared them that they would be out of a job. I say that to say this, our voices are meaningless in the gun debate. The anti-gun politicians know we won't vote for them even if they change their stance on guns because of other issues. So, why would they listen to us? What we really need to do is to convince all the people who vote for their union, for abortion, for open borders, etc... we need to convince these people to become 2a activists and start hammering their politicians because their voices have weight. But instead, I see gun owners constantly arguing and bickering with other gun owners about issues unrelated to gun rights. Instead of coming together, we push away potential allies because of unrelated issues. One thing is for sure, the opposition is very unified against us and rarely infights.

Arrested for transporting a firearm, charged with carrying the firearm, charges later dropped. Now challenging the validity of having ones FOID revoked for felony charges. The IL supreme court heard the case last week. https://www.thecentersquare.com/illinois/article_9e86682a-6701-408a-b06a-0ed696e6f5dc.html

2026 NRA Board Elections -- Todd Vandermyde
AlphaKoncepts aka CGS replied to Tvandermyde's topic in Illinois Politics
Todd, I seldom receive my voting ballot. What can I do to ensure I receive one? No I don't receive the magazines because who the heck reads magazines anymore... -
Why stop at NEW? Why not prohibit the enforcement of all gun control? At this point the republicans have shown that they support gun control through their silence. They have the super majority and could/should be rapid firing pro freedom legislation daily. Screw omni bus bills, pas hundreds of small pro gun bills every single day. But nope. Silence. Ok, this administration has done a couple of pro-gun things, but to me it reeks of bread and circuses.

If I am sober, I am carrying. Why would you not? Churches are attacked frequently throughout history, and it's nothing new. I have students who choose to ONLY carry in their place of worship. While I disagree with this opinion, it's their opinion to make, and I share it to point out how important it is to not let our guard down while we worship.
