cwbchicago.com article from today says they're increasing the number of judges who handle the workload by 50%. 6 judges now upping it to 9. Wonder why they'd do that?

Really, what difference would it have made if they took his foid away 6 years ago when he tried to get a ccl when they first came out and he did it just like all the others do with a stolen gun bought off the street? Example. No foid in Florida but oh well! Kizer Pontoon, 28, was arrested for the 66th time on Wednesday in Sarasota, Florida '[Pontoon] was most recently featured in October 2019 for failure to appear, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana, high speed vehicle pursuit while fleeing to elude, and driving while license suspended,' they wrote.https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7978815/Florida-man-28-arrested-66th-time-run-months.html -
FOID and CCL data by county - current data and historical trends

Those are sad numbers. Twelve percent of gun owners have a carry license. It's like owning cars but not having a drivers license. -
If you put forth a good effort, I think you can get this situation resolved and your guns back. In any case, you should definitely try. At the worst, you might need to hire a lawyer to help out and at the very worst you can always move out of state if necessary. Doesn't his "clear and present danger" thing in illinois make him prohibited in every state?

No, it was a while ago and doesn't come up in a search. Maybe the guy it happened to would want to tell the story again, or not. I'll leave it up to him. It happened to a member whose firearm had been stolen and turned up in the city. Chicago PD traced the firearm back to him and came calling with a list of other firearms he had purchased and wanted to see them. This situation is different. Main thing is that his FOID is still valid and has not been revoked. Thanks. I try not to miss anything around here. Did they revoke the foid in the stolen gun case?

Also, maybe a cop ran your plate while you were out on the road somewhere and someone listening to the scanner wrote down your info when the name, address, "active ccl" was broadcast back to the cop in the car, and started the scam from there? edit When the ccl first came out, I listened to the chicago frequencies available online and heard this play out live more than a few times.

How about posting a still picture or two from the video? This sounds like a very clever/dangerous scam. Don't answer the door for anyone you don't know even if you live in Dupage County, Lake County, "my neighborhood is wonderful because it's not chicago"....etc. because everything has changed. The garbage travels anywhere they want looking for any opportunity...even a police profiling law suit.

Daughter's FOID
jim123 replied to cope's topic in Illinois FOID Application, Renewal & Appeal Process
Agree. It could have been lost in the mail. I have seen plenty of lazy people who have no connection to a union. It amazes me how some people seem to think they know how to run an organization better than those who actually do the work even though they are not familiar with the process at all; or they assign characteristics to people they have never seen. It's all illinois. I got my Pennsylvania permit in 9 days through the mail 11 years ago. I read of others getting the permit in minutes if they applied in person. -
Losing FOID
jim123 replied to Windermere's topic in Illinois FOID Application, Renewal & Appeal Process
ANYONE should be able to have a gun. If you misuse it, you pay the price. Anyone can go to the store and buy a set of pots and pans. If you go rent a condo or go visit someone who lives downtown on the 45th floor and throw those pots and pans you just bought off the balcony onto a crowd of people, what do you think will happen when the police catch you? Will they bar you from ever owning, touching, or possessing pots and pans? Would they ban you from owning pot holders? What about cooking spray? You only need those if you own pots and pans. I can't help but think something like this is not too far down the road. http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/the-night-of-broken-glass
