  1. I got my lifetime also right after I move to Indiana in March of 2020, can't remember what the cost was but I think around $100.00. Now the lifetime or 5 year are the same cost, you only pay for the fingerprints which must be done at a state approved facility. The standard price IIRC is $13.00, yes that is correct $13.00. Of course you only need to have the license if you go out of state because Indiana also has Constitutional Carry which includes out of state visitors. Indiana has to my knowledge never had a training requirement. Jim.
  2. Get the child a FOID. im.
  3. I am not going deer hunting let alone in Illinois but reading the amendment I am confused. It mentions handguns and revolvers and them goes on to talk about the 3 round limit in rifles an handguns. Does this include revolvers being limited to three rounds? I don't know how you would "plug" a revolver to that limit but many firearm laws are written by people that know nothing about firearms. Jim.
  4. When I was a CCW instructor and now when talking to people that carry I also encourage precipitation in shooting sports. I stress it should not be considered "training" but it does get you used to a certain amount of stress. You also must get comfortable drawing and holstering your handgun and reloading under stress. Something else I stress is when people decide to watch videos of whatever sport they are interested in to take it with a grain of salt. Most of the time the ones posting videos on youtube or whatever are really good. I have been shooting IDPA over 20 years and now that I have turned 78 there has been a decline in my scores, mostly slower in foot movement and not so much in shooting and reloading speed. However I still have a lot of fun and enoy time with my shooting friends. Jim.
  5. I attend a small church in a small town here in Indiana where I now live. Our Pastor carries and altho the subject has come up between us about carrying at church I do not see him having a problem with it. He does know I carry and shoot in competition so he probably just assumes I carry in church. We have talked about guns seeral times before or after services. Jim.
  6. Count them, 29 states have permit less carry! So glad I left that horrible state. Jim.
  7. Link worked for me.
  8. Disclaimer; I moved out of Illinois March 14, 2020 so just looking back. I always referred to MM as "Satan's evil twin" but looking back I actually think he was better for 2A issues than what has come after. MM wanted power over any other thing and that is how he ruled the state. You are absolutely correct he was never going to be voted out of his district but to stay in power he had to control the state. He would only go so far to restrict 2A rights because of central and southern Illinois. If these areas lost these rights they would start voting out the "D" reps in those areas. He would still get elected in his district but not have the votes to hold his speakership. Of course the state is now so screwed with the super majorities it may be a lost cause. The "R" RINO's are not helping anything with their negative 2A votes. Just glad I am GONE. Jim.
  9.    In stead of adding to the thread figured I would just do it this way.  I just turned 78 so have been on Medicare for a while so this is how I do things and I am happy with things.  Of course others may like something different and that works for them.

I and my wife have traditional Medicare with a supplement, part "G" is what we settled on.  Part "G" pays everything the same as "B" except you must pay the yearly deductible which for this coming year is $250.00 if memory serves correctly.  By going this way the monthly premiums are less so we pay less over the year.

I do not want and will not have the "C" or "Advantage" plan, it sounds good but your choice of doctors must be in their network and they require co-pays, referrals and prior authorization. Also their network of providers can change any time.  For some people that works, good friends have that and like it so....

Aside from my monthly premiums an yearly deductible I have paid "$0.00" in doctor or hospital fees.  I have had an appendectomy where the initial hospital nearly killed me, was taken to another hospital 30 miles in ambulance for a total ordeal of nine days.  Tripple hernia, hand surgery and all my regular doctor visits, X-rays and tests.  You just need to make sure the doctor and hospital accept Medicare and if the procedure is covered by Medicare.  If that is done your supplement insurance is required by law to pay what Medicare does not.  Good luck, Jim.

  10. This is correct, no matter what you get for yourselves or is forced upon you no matter how bad, loosing statewide preemption would make things worse. Of course I am on the outside looking back from the free state of Indiana but I do have to come back to Illinois at times. Jim.
  11. They'd never go for that, makes too much sense. You are correct it does make sense, it is also the first time I ever agreed with soundguy. Worlds are colliding! Jim.
  12. We have simply been listing with a check mark that they showed proof a DD124. While these new emergency rules are in effect, we will ask for a copy to keep with our records and ask student to redact social security number. I have been doing the same thing, verify the DD-214 and note that on my training record along with hits on qualifing target etc. And like you I really do not feel comfortable keeping someones SS number, if they would ever become a victim of identity theft that could be a bad situtation for the instructor. This is especially true after the revocation of certain instructors who apparently were less than honest. I am an Army veteran so can only verify their rules as of when I served, 1969/1971. Instead of giving you a seperate and distinct service number your social security number was used. So the only way I can see you can redact the SS number is to redact the service number. This is something you might bring up to the ISP as a big reason for instructors to not retain a copy. Jim.
  13. I remember at one time early on in all this the ISP wanted the DD-214 loaded to the application . This is rubbish, if the ISP want a copy retained have it loaded to them. Jim.
  14. I thought it was bad enough his only having a license little over a year. Twentysix years and says things like that is unreal. Jim.
  15. Thanks for the definition it fits vewry well. Jim.
