This is getting sweeter and sweeter. However, always having a glass half-full. I foresee some organizations trying to put the stops on this real fast. An they are going to use a virus called.... "It is not county business"

I figure we don't have much time left before this virus thought spreads (could even be as early as the fall veto session-but doubtful)...more like just before spring session.

At Church today, I talk with the guy who is spear heading Cumberland County. I of course turned his attention to the resolution to get the ball rolling there. His report was he has made several more contacts with some board members and requested my help if he need it. Of course I said yes.

I also have an ace in the hole, so too speak. My dad was elected to several office's there and is well known. One of those positions was the sheriff! Come to think of it, he held every office except for Mayor.

Sorry, folks! I haven't been able to get the job done! Not used to losing! I am really, really pissed! Maybe "distraught" would be a better term.
No need for sorry coach, you've done yeoman's work in this fight and I have no doubt you'll continue to do more in the future.  I think "pissed" is a very accurate description of the way you feel, you just don't seem like the kind of guy to get "distraught" to me. "Distraught" is how liberals, wusses, pc types and anti gunners feel when things don't go their way.  :lips sealed:   Guys like you and I and others here just get pissed.

Jim and Mark have a Youtube video on the site now.

http://www.pro2aresolution.com/

Nice work, gentlemen. I like it.

On another note, I see they have Rock Island and Champaign coded red. In my opinion, they might be better as white. Technically, the resolution has not failed in either county. Obstacles have certainly been put up, but unless a county board produces a majority vote against a resolution, I don't think we should list the county in red.

A touch of the "virus" was in the Montgomery Co. Committee meeting when the 2nd Amendment was introduced. The virus can be cured by mentioning that "The People" decide what they want presented to the board.

I'm not sure where it appeared first, RI County or Champaign, but we gotta find a cure...and a vaccine so we can prevent it from happening elsewhere!

I believe Douglas County already has a mild case of it...the NCB virus

We need to motivate people who live in these counties to send letters to their board members and make personal visits to convey how seriously we believe that it is county business.

1. "Some" state representatives & state senators visit relatively small towns to speak to the voters on a more personal level . . . face to face . . . to answer their questions . . . and find out what the individual voters think on various topics. If they did not think it important to know how the voters feel, they would not be taking the time to go to them, for their opinions.

2. 2nd Amendment resolutions voted upon by county boards are just another way for the voters to inform the legislature of their feelings on this particular topic.

3. "It is not county business" could just as easily be turned around to say "It is not state business".

Indeed, it could.  And for those who argue it IS state business, in this state we have home rule, set up so that municipalities can have a say in regulating their affairs.  In as much as municipalities invoke home rule to enact laws stricter than the state....philosophically at least, home rule could be arguably invoked to enact laws less strict than the state.  If home rule is about regulating our own affairs, then limiting the reach of gun control legislation is indeed county business.

Reeived this email this P.M.:

Quote

Great news from Coles County on Pro-2A;  I just got off the phone with Mike Weaver from Mattoon.  I asked him what was going on with the Pro-2A.  He said that he had received several emails on this proposal.  He said that he has rewritten the Pro-2A for the Health and Safety Committee to look at on September 17th at 5:00 P.M. at the Court House.  He invited me to attend the meeting.  He believes it will be added to the October agenda.  He thinks only one person on the board will oppose it if it is not written right.

Montgomery Co. passed a motion to have the States Attorney draft a 2nd Amendment Resolution(using my template)today. The Resolution will be voted on next month. Still Yellow but getting closer to Green.

The vote next month should be a formality.

Jasper County votes tonight. I've been told in will be a complete full vote with no one voting no. I should be able to confirm this, hopefully by 9.30 at the lastest tonight.

In the mean time, I've been ask a question concerning....what do we do with it now?

So, I said, I'll find out.

So, what do we do with it now? Are all the counties going to send theirs in all at the same time, or is each county sending it in as they pass it?

Jasper is Green

...but it should did get allot of calls last month. Somehow, it got reported wrong either in the local paper (not the one I had link to) or the lady that does the morning news on the local radio station got it wrong.

It was reported as BANNING all weapons in Jasper county!

From what I was told tonight, it caused one big stir and people were throwing fits over the prospect of it.

At Mark Mountain's website 39 counties are listed  as passing the resolution http://www.pro2areso...n.com/id11.html

They have Macoupin and Fulton as passing the resolution unanimously this week on Sept. 11!

When I asked the lady at the Macoupin County office, she replied, "Yes, and that means against!"
I said, "You mean against the legislature banning firearms!"
Answer: "That's right!"
I replied, "Beautiful!"

She laughed!

Sweet--Macoupin is just down the road from me (well, just up the road would be more accurate, I guess).  Did a fair amount of hunting there years ago.  Doesn't surprise me at all that folks there have enough sense to oppose Cook County style civilian disarmament tyranny.
