I would suggest finding out who is on the city council and then approaching them about the issue. You may want to find a LEO, city worker, firefighter or such of whom you think might be sympathetic to our cause and probe them a little bit on who or what they think would be the best way to get the ball rolling.

Oswego Township in Kendall county passed the gun resolution last night Tom Yackley a township trustee took business into his own hands. We need to learn from Tom, In counties that look like they will be hard to pass present the resolution to the Township's and force the county to pass resolution, or forget about the county if all the townships pass a resolution opposing gun legislation thats even better (GRASSROOTS)Kendall county is considered a suburb of Chicago! This is great and I thank Tom for taking the bull by the horns in a land that is not friendly to gun owners(freedom is great)WE THE PEOPLE

If you just show up and hand them a document, they're going to bury it before you can say, "Holy home rule ordinance, Batman!"
I'm not trying to discourage you. I think we definitely need to make a statement up there. I'd just like to ensure all the angles are covered, and most importantly - build it up to a sufficiently high profile issue that they can't just brush it aside quietly. We need to force the board members to go on formal record of being oppossed to recognizing the civil rights of their constituents.

You might want to contact Jews For the Preservation of Firearms Ownership if you pursue this. They may be able to help you.

Don't get all fired up about the jewish community, I have found that though you'd think they would all think back to what the Germans did to their ancestors, not all of them even come close to pro gun types.
I have found that many are even anti gun. Checking in with the Jews For the Preservation of Firearms Ownership would be a good idea rather than being dissapointed by the Holocaust Museum reception.
I also like the idea of other towns, villages, cities (who are unfortunately part of cook county) getting together rather than one here or there getting buried deep before the county board.

Hopefully it won't be long until it's about 95% green. That will send a powerful message!

Exactly. We're always hearing about how 85% of Cook County residents voted in favor of the symbolic AWB referrendum during their last election.
How about 85% of all counties in Illinois saying they want nothing to do with that.

Does anyone have any contacts in McLean County? I believe their board would be fairly amenable to a resolution, and it represents a good population bloc. It would also be another step north.

I don't vote in McLean, but I live there during the week. I'd be willing to go along with a resident for support.

I'm not sure of the actual vote, couldn't make out what some of them said, but it passed; and they're going to send me a copy of the resolution, once it's signed.
However, they decided to strike the last few words of the resolution as presented. To be removed: "and consider such laws to be unconstitutional and beyond lawful Legislative Authority!"
Mike . . . thanks for the help !

Mrs. Darnell was at the GSL meeting on Tuesday where John was singing your praises and I think she's always there anyway, so she probably heard you speak. So I'd say she's primed to be spoken to about it.

Adams County just passed their own resolution, and it even made the news.

Wow--that's great news. Wasn't Adams considered kind of a tricky one, because of anti-gun leadership in Quincy?
