Wait..you mean there isn't some super secret conspiracy between Quinn, Cullerton and Madigan? Harrumph! I bet he's just saying that to make us complacent.

Bottom line, they're going down while kicking and screaming. They are only delaying the inevitable.

If it's one thing Illinois politics have taught me, there is absolutely nothing that would surprise me. Let's just hope that it's a decent outcome.

Well, based on this article, it's as good as done. I hate that we get a partial restoration of our 2A right on the coat tails of some political manuevering....but at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is the end result. These Illinois politicians are going to play their slimy political games either way....we might as well benefit from SOME of it.

Me being the eternal pessimist that I am.... Finds this slightly encouraging that Madigan at least stuck his neck out there to be quoted as saying this.

He's been an opponent for years , but with all the current chess moves, He went as so far as to say it in the presence of the media. So in its own way its a small show of support in ending the states stonewall on ccw.

“At the end of the day,” Speaker Madigan said, “if the governor were to veto or to offer an amendatory veto, he’ll be overridden. “

Now if He only sticks to his words......

After his speech on the floor, and now this public declaration that this WILL pass (in other words, HE runs the show, NOT Quinn), if this does NOT pass, it will make him look weak. I don't believe for a second that he would risk that.

It could also just be a chess move to link the madigan name to pushing for ccw to pass. Lisa files motion after motion to appease the chi/cook anti's, and papa pushes jello for the rest of the state.

This is a chess move and we are the pieces.

papa wont ever push for jello... they are over the gun issue because hes realized they cant get thier way on it and they have more restrictions with 183 then they get with CC.. he wants it done and over with and quinns just playing out the campaign game.

It's a big showdown for sure between Quinn and Madigan. Both seem to be playing hot potato to throw the bill back and forth, and Quinn is pinned in the corner now. We'll have to see if he just gives up and signs it, vetos to try and "save face" or will staee down madigan, refuse to sign it, and make her take it to the supreme court to save the cliff,..

Of course there is no tinfoil hat conspiracy. And of course Madigan doesnt communicate with his adopted daughter Lisa who he made AG. The ChiMachine Combine is playing to their CHUMBOLONE electorate base the DUMBEST in the world. This is bad KABUKI theater at its worst.

It's a staring contest right now to see who blinks first.

A side note though, as the warped sense of how Illinois politics works popped into my head. Could the stance by Speaker Madagin be one so that Lisa Madagin can 'appear' to be in conflict with her father when she does file for cert. Could some of this posture be addressing the election issue of Lisa will just be Daddy's puppet?

Just as other members have said, what we got going here(HB183)is a smoke and mirriors attempt by unscrupulous, criminal Illinois politicians to show the rest of the nation that they respect and follow the laws and Constitution of the United States.

Why? My guess, the criminal politicians are trying to hide from the rest of the nation just how things really get done here in the "Land of Obama".

My 2 Cents,Illinois will be granted by the criminal politicians a weak, restrictive, more controlling c&c than any other state to date.

OUR RIGHTS AND FREEDOM HAVE BEEN STOLE BY THE CRIMINAL POLITICIANS OF COOK COUNTY,ONCE MORE.

no because if you go look at the polls taken il residents dont favor her for govenor when asked if her dad still retains his office... its not the first time lisa and her dad have had public disputes over things and wont be the last... lisas just doing the cya and now put it on quinn to act before the 9th... if she hasnt filed for cert by the 9th its all on quinn then. because she cant go ask for the order to be stayed after its already been issued..she could still ask for cert after that time though but cc would be in effect until its heard or cert is denied.

I still say the defiant little daughter is going to file.

.

That's why Michael Madigan wants the "Bill" he masterminded / pushed-through to be acted on and made into law quickly.... so Lisa's Supreme Court adventure would be moot. While Quinn would love to see Lisa go down the dead end path to the Supreme Court.... Quinn has run out of time to force her hand unless he does nothing and accepts Constitutional carry be in effect until his 60 days of inaction (August 4, 2013) would make the HB 183 automatically become law.

The recent activites do not support that. If nothing is done by July 9th they both can now point thier fingers at each other. Quinn will say Lisa could have filed (and still can until July 22nd) and Lisa will say Quinn could just take action on the bill (and still can until Aug 4th).

If Lisa had not filed for the latest extension, then she had the cover of saying she did not file because HB183 was still in play on June 25th. Come July 9th the cliff would have been Quinn's fault and only Quinn's fault.

By filing for the latest extenstion, if she was not planing to file for cert, she put her self in a weaker position and empowered Quinn to continue to do nothing, as now she will be still be able to file for cert.

The only advantage I see Lisa having now, is if Quinn takes no action and she files cert on July 9th. She tries to claim that she really does not want this, but has to do it to 'save' the day as Quinn is a failing Govener that took no action. It also shows conflict with Speaker Madagin and helps establish the 'break' between them that is needed to gain her support.

I don't think Quinn will go off the cliff... he will do something before July 9... either veto, AV or outright.... or he will direct Lisa to file. He's not our friend or proactive in any way....typical politician lips moving but saying nothing. Third likelihood is him signing or cliff to 60 days / law. I suppose it boils down to if Quinn and Lisa talk... or more likely does she listen if he talks. My guess is they're not on each others speed dial.
