sctman800 Posted June 18, 2013 at 02:34 PM Posted June 18, 2013 at 02:34 PM Obviously I was hoping otherwise, but not a big surprise. Jim.
moparman71 Posted June 18, 2013 at 02:34 PM Posted June 18, 2013 at 02:34 PM Patiently awaiting for SkinnyB to give us the forecast. Stormy with a 60% chance of FOID Carry?
cm.stites Posted June 18, 2013 at 02:35 PM Author Posted June 18, 2013 at 02:35 PM not suprised its generally granted.... will be interesting to see how many more countys get on bored before then though.
Livewire18 Posted June 18, 2013 at 02:36 PM Posted June 18, 2013 at 02:36 PM Ayfkm? This is such a freaking joke to them, isn't it? Either file or don't! STIP dragging our rights and freedoms through the damn dirt! Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
brianj - now in Kansas Posted June 18, 2013 at 02:36 PM Posted June 18, 2013 at 02:36 PM So, if I'm following all the bouncing balls correctly, this means the ball is still in Lisa's court. Quinn can now outwait her, as he can technically hold off on a veto until July 29th at midnight. It will be interesting (in the Chinese curse sense) to see how this plays out.

C0untZer0 Posted June 18, 2013 at 02:40 PM Posted June 18, 2013 at 02:40 PM Yes Madigan asked for an extension to July 22 and got it.

It will be interesting (in the Chinese curse sense) to see how this plays out.he can but it could be she was just covering for herself.. hard telling whats going through her mind because losing at scotus would play out in her run for governor. right now everythings still on quinn because she doesnt have to file for cert... she can be like well we had a law pass the legislature and quinn decided to veto it but i decided not to appeal to preserve the rights and not waste taxpayer money and pin it right back on quinn.theres about 30 different ways everything can pan out... just a big ole waiting game right now. to see how willing daddy is to protect her run for the mansion.
Patriots & Tyrants Posted June 18, 2013 at 02:45 PM Posted June 18, 2013 at 02:45 PM I wonder if they can kick the can long enough for Quinn to deal with this during a "lame duck" period after he loses the primary.
POAT54 Posted June 18, 2013 at 02:47 PM Posted June 18, 2013 at 02:47 PM Ok, what does this mean to july 9th (10th)?
tkroenlein Posted June 18, 2013 at 02:48 PM Posted June 18, 2013 at 02:48 PM Getting an extension here does not affect the July 8th stay, correct? She would actually have to file for writ of certiorari and be granted it to further stay the 7th's mandate, correct? Skinny?

colt-45 Posted June 18, 2013 at 02:51 PM Posted June 18, 2013 at 02:51 PM this extension has nothing to do with the cliff. July 9th is still the cliff. this was just more time to appeal.
cm.stites Posted June 18, 2013 at 02:52 PM Author Posted June 18, 2013 at 02:52 PM Ok, what does this mean to july 9th (10th)?depends on if shes filed for cert before then or not... if she hasnt then july 10th posners order will be sent down. days later theres no more law on the books and CC kicks in with no new law on the books... if she files for cert it will have to be before the 10th to prevent posners ruling entered which means in the next couple weeks she will have to file a motion with the 7th to stay the ruling pending cert ( will probably be denied) then has to file for a stay with scotus pending cert and then she will be forced to file for cert. which will lead to another waiting game but if certs denied posners ruling is entered immediatly

cm.stites Posted June 18, 2013 at 02:57 PM Author Posted June 18, 2013 at 02:57 PM well july 31st is after july 22 and after july 9th so right now its still in play. and if theres no law ready for when certs denied then well automatic cc quinn can stick it to her and force her to file for cert by waiting till july 8th and vetoing the bill. but she could also say shes not going to file for cert and pin it on him. they are both trying for votes right now and gun owners are caught in the middle
TyGuy Posted June 18, 2013 at 03:03 PM Posted June 18, 2013 at 03:03 PM All I can do is laugh while the sheep are lead to slaughter.
Drylok Posted June 18, 2013 at 03:04 PM Posted June 18, 2013 at 03:04 PM One more extension on the stay would put them over 60 days that the bill will have set on Quinns desk. That is my prediction.

cls74 Posted June 18, 2013 at 03:07 PM Posted June 18, 2013 at 03:07 PM So all in all, the next action by Lisa and/or Quinn will be before July 10th, I can't see them going over the cliff for 2 weeks. Assuming that is correct we have a 22 day countdown for the next move. Is there a certain amount of time that she has to file for something before that deadline, either to have the request in in time or to allow whoever her next petition goes to enough time to grant/deny it? Secondly, I notice Quinn has been quiet on her latest extension request
supprmann Posted June 18, 2013 at 03:09 PM Posted June 18, 2013 at 03:09 PM All I can do is laugh while the sheep are lead to slaughter. Strangely enough.......me too!!!!

She would actually have to file for writ of certiorari and be granted it to further stay the 7th's mandate, correct? Skinny? July 9th is the day no matter what for the carry bill deadline, there is no extension. Lisa's extension is for if she wishes to take the carry judgement to the supreme court. Quinn will need to sign the bill by the 9th and if not, the state will get FOID carry until after 60 days from when the bill was presented to Quinn, which will then automatically be enacted. Madigan has until the 22nd of July to take it to the supreme court.
