Keilman1 Posted June 13, 2013 at 11:14 PM Posted June 13, 2013 at 11:14 PM It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our great friend Jerry "JD" Roth. He was an excellent firearms instructor and taught thousands of officers over the years. The experience and knowledge he brought into the class was exceptional. We at Elements Firearms will miss him, he was truly a great friend of ours. We appreciate all your emails and kind words. Thank You!
cm.stites Posted June 14, 2013 at 12:25 AM Posted June 14, 2013 at 12:25 AM ehh are you talking about before or after he used city money for his personal use?
LightMyFire Posted June 14, 2013 at 12:53 AM Posted June 14, 2013 at 12:53 AM ^ probably not the time for that comment. Tact. All he said that he was a good friend and instructor. I don't know who he was but r.I.p.
KristiK Posted June 14, 2013 at 04:06 AM Posted June 14, 2013 at 04:06 AM Thank you, Light My Fire, JD Roth was a good man. People shouldn't believe everything they see in the news. The news isn't exactly a reliable source for anything that could actually be called news these days. I think that has been proven over and over again. FYI - cm.stites...again, don't believe everything you hear. Sometimes good people get stuck in the middle of the mine field just because they are out front. Remember, our Consitition says that people are innocent until they are proven guilty, at least that's what I was taught in school about our Bill of Rights. There are thousands of people that support, love and respect JD because he was a good man and I'd put him up against any one any day. He would've given the shirt off his back to help someone he didn't even know, someone that most people would've walked right on by.
TyGuy Posted June 14, 2013 at 04:09 AM Posted June 14, 2013 at 04:09 AM Who is JD Roth? I am not familiar with him.

Keilman1 Posted June 14, 2013 at 11:24 AM Author Posted June 14, 2013 at 11:24 AM Just wanted to say JD was my friend, a great man, a phenomenal instructor and we will miss him. That is all...
bob Posted June 14, 2013 at 11:50 AM Posted June 14, 2013 at 11:50 AM Who is JD Roth? I am not familiar with him. http://www.ksdk.com/...commits-suicide The rest of the story.
cm.stites Posted June 14, 2013 at 01:05 PM Posted June 14, 2013 at 01:05 PM when ive heard the stories directly from my own cousins mouth who just so happens to be on caseyville pd its a little hard not to "believe".. he may of been a good man and friend to many but that wasnt always the case and to make him out like a "hero" when he turned around and broke the law and trust of a community still plays into things..and to take the easy way out of things is even worse if he was really innocent he wouldnt of committed suicide and put that burden on his friends and family but instead he chose to take the easy way out for himself that made it the hard way for his friends and family because he has no idea what kind of impact that will leave on them for the rest of thier lives.. thats not a hero let alone a true hero.
albike Posted June 14, 2013 at 06:24 PM Posted June 14, 2013 at 06:24 PM I received my NRA Basic Pistol class in Feb. 2013 at Elements Firearms and JD was one of the instructors. I though the information he brought to the class was helpful and I couldn't help but like him for the brief time I was there. I wish his family well. Al

Al it is not all that unusual for people to have deep dark secrets. It is also not unusual for people to have both good and bad sides to their character. Very few people are anywhere near as good as they would like to have you think.
pdpsc Posted June 15, 2013 at 01:58 AM Posted June 15, 2013 at 01:58 AM Who is JD Roth? I am not familiar with him. http://www.ksdk.com/news/article/384386/3/Suspended-police-chief-commits-suicide The news article is misleading. The police are not required to auction every vehicle seized under forfeiture laws. The police are permitted to use anything seized under forfeiture laws for law enforcement purposes. Many seized vehicles end up being used as DARE cars, undercover cars, etc... Not saying that happened here, just saying that the article is inaccurate as to the law...
cm.stites Posted June 15, 2013 at 02:02 AM Posted June 15, 2013 at 02:02 AM in caseyville they are required to auction them off. the moneys suppost to be used to pay for thier fleet. were talking a town of less then 4500 people not a metropolitan police force.

I'm not about to piss on the man's grave. I know how seized vehicles work in police agencies, as I work for one. Either way, it's still a tragedy that the man saw no other way out than the way his life had ended. Bottom line, I feel for the family.
