johnsxdm Posted May 31, 2013 at 12:02 PM Posted May 31, 2013 at 12:02 PM With the oncoming rush for required training, weekend and evening classes will be filled fast. Retired people like me and a lot of others would be able to due classes mid week during the day. It would help with the range time also as the ranges are not that full during the day.

patriot1776 Posted May 31, 2013 at 12:14 PM Posted May 31, 2013 at 12:14 PM yep that is when i also go to the range weekday daytime
TyGuy Posted May 31, 2013 at 12:15 PM Posted May 31, 2013 at 12:15 PM I'll put it this way, if there's a market for it it will be done.
AlphaKoncepts aka CGS Posted May 31, 2013 at 01:35 PM Posted May 31, 2013 at 01:35 PM Wednesday or Sundays are the only days I get to go to the range. Sometimes, sometimes, on a Saturday.
Elderberry Posted May 31, 2013 at 01:46 PM Posted May 31, 2013 at 01:46 PM Being retired I always avoid the range on holidays and weekends -- I let the working folks have it -- their free time is far more limited than mine... Plus it's nice to have the solitude.... So, yes, my plan is to take the training during the week....
johnsxdm Posted May 31, 2013 at 02:02 PM Author Posted May 31, 2013 at 02:02 PM So, yes, my plan is to take the training during the week.... It only works if we can find trainers that do weekday training.
narcoden Posted May 31, 2013 at 02:04 PM Posted May 31, 2013 at 02:04 PM If it's offered, if it's easier to get into, less crowded, get's me my training faster (heck if it gets me out of work) then I have the vacation time to burn.
Talonap Posted May 31, 2013 at 02:10 PM Posted May 31, 2013 at 02:10 PM Nice to hear I'm no the only "Older Person" here. Let me re-ask the question. Anyone going to do weekdays 9-5 in the South Burbs, (Around Tinley Park)?
RandyP Posted May 31, 2013 at 02:44 PM Posted May 31, 2013 at 02:44 PM I'm not retired, probably will never financially be able to (my retirement plan includes a long rectangular box with handles), but am an old fart at 64 - I would gladly take vacation days with the HUGE caveat, that unless the Chicago CFP goes away completely the issue is moot. No way I can keep taking classes to renew and paying the big fees for both a CFP and an Illinois CCW. I have given up on political optimism and will spend the next week under the motto "Hope for the best, but expect the worst." NOTHING that comes out of Springpatch or City Hall really surprises me anymore.
Bud Posted May 31, 2013 at 02:49 PM Posted May 31, 2013 at 02:49 PM I will work something out stBuffalo Range for the Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday period but maybe just every other week depending on demand.Go to the Buffalo Range thread in training and reserve a spot by email follow the link in the thread.
bobapunk Posted June 3, 2013 at 01:48 PM Posted June 3, 2013 at 01:48 PM I believe www.lrn2shoot.com is planning on doing 4x4hr classes. He is somewhere in the west 'burbs... I also might be offering this type of schedule, depends on demand.
RandyP Posted June 3, 2013 at 02:27 PM Posted June 3, 2013 at 02:27 PM Another thought is that those of us who are vets have our DD214, some others of us have the CFP training done a few years ago and a non-resident permit from places like Utah giving us 8 hours credit for the IL CCW training. Classes will hopefully be scheduled to provide an economical 'Part 2' portion just filling the remaining classroom and range requirement?

We have NRA Basic Pistol available now a couple Mondays per month. When we get all the parameters we are staffed to go two classes per day, 6-8 students per class. Next Monday available 06/10/2013 for Basic Pistol. Thnx,Jerry Sommer & StaffMarseilles, IL http://str8shotgunsafety.com/
mjw45 Posted June 4, 2013 at 01:26 AM Posted June 4, 2013 at 01:26 AM I have wanted to do weekday classes, but the interest hasn't been there yet. When things get really busy I see weekday classes being more available, for many instructors getting weekend range time is already difficult.I got lucky that I have access to a private facility that makes scheduling easier. I actually foresee split pricing, the high demand weekend classes being priced higher than the weekday classes, just due to range availability, or lets call it the weekday classes being discounted. I am flexible, I will schedule whatever people need, full weekday, after work classes 4 hours per evening, whatever is needed.I wanted to do schoolday classes, 3-4 hours per day while the kids are in school for stay at home parents. Whatever I can get students for I will try to work with them. And I'm not the only one, there will be others that will work with the students. The big issue is that most people so far are only available on the weekend so that is when the classes have been scheduled. Matt
sirflyguy Posted June 9, 2013 at 07:54 PM Posted June 9, 2013 at 07:54 PM I know that Heartland Training Team is doing weekday classes through the summer, and I think most of them are through John A. Logan College. I would do some myself. but my regular job typically prevents it.
