If cullerton is as smart as he thinks, he will let it pass. Otherwise, HE will be solely responsible for FOID carry in Illinois. I say he does what is right, and not what he wants. Most likely, his NOT allowing it through would be the end of his career!

I don't think they have the votes for the 'may issue' gun grabber bill, cullerton has the choice between SB2193 or nothing.

and nothing scares the crap out of politicians :)

Yeah I don't possibly see how republicans and downstate democrats support the may issue bill when there is a far superior bill available that already passed the other chamber.

But I'll be biting my nails all the same.

I think Cullerton's hand has been forced to pass it.

Not that black and white... If he calls Kwame's bill and it is passes and sent to the House, it's a stalemate on blame at that point...

While I don't necessarily like a LOT of what is contained in SB2193, it's a lot better than the May Issue crap they want to pass in the Senate. I'll be calling my senator and ask him to vote for 2193 & against 183.

Madigan and Cullerton may have made a deal together. CCW bill for Pension bill. Solves a few major problems.

If this were the case, then I wouldn't expect Cullerton to be blasting the CCW bill publicly, which he is doing.

Look at all the Ds who griped and groaned publicly on the House floor, but voted for it anyway. Cullerton and Madigan's "agreement" may be no more than an agreement that each will permit the other's bill to be called for a vote. Madigan won't care at all if Cullerton blasts it publicly -- it just makes Madigan look even better when it passes over Cullerton's objections.

Yes, it's a little gray, but with this much bipartisan support in the House, Cullerton would get the lion's share of the blame for sure.

It will pass in the Senate...or King Mike will strike down the dissenters with lightning bolts.

I don't think so......Madigan voted Yay on it so if Senate votes it down and the house kills the Kwame bill it makes Cullerton look like he can't play nice.

I don't equate that to being "solely responsible" instead it's political posturing, a game Madigan loves to play to stroke his ego...

He still has to answer to the Chicago / Cook County democrats and put on a show . I don't trust Madigan, something is up . I hope i am wrong , but ........ I will relax when the ink is dry, on the exact bill passed today, in the House becomes law.

It's called Political Theater........ Cullerton wants his pension bill, Emanuel wants a Casino..... in public they put up a stink but under the table everything is hunky dory.

The bill that passed the house I don't think passes the 7th's decision. It's unreasonable due to the insanely restrictive fee's, and banning carry on public transport, which effectively blocks Chicago carry. Heck, I know that I can't afford $150 plus training costs and fingerprint fees, so what about the people that need it the most in the high crime area's of Chicago? If this bill does pass I hope we can nail out these issues, perhaps bring this to the 7th.

so whats good about $150 fee, 16 hours class and firing range, heard it was three hours of live fire and i havnt seen a box of shells on the store shelf in months. so how expensive is this going to end up being, and i restate, whats good about this? allowing the police to raise and objection i assume even after youve paid the fee and done the 16 hour course only to have a jackass state trooper void your application. this is total bullcrap imo. this is being bent over and accepting it because of how bad other bills were is idiotic. its like being told to eat this **** its not as bad as that other ****, **** is still ****.

cant believe how cowed some are and are actually drooling over this. as far as im concerned under this bill i wont be a cc in this state. this is what they want im shure. anyone who belives in there second amendment rights and supports this needs there head examined.

I read somewhere that Cullerton said he would strip out the pre-emption and then call it for a vote. I read someplace else that the senate could not change it at all only vote it up or down. Anybody know which is true?

i believe if they make any changes to.the bill, it would have to go back down the house for a vote. they don't have time for that.
