What you guys are failing to realize is when you say things like "selling out", "folding", "throwing us under the bus" you are talking about Tim Bowyer, Valinda Rowe, Todd Vandermyde and Brandon Phelps whether you intend to or not. They are the ones negotiating on our behalf.

Exactly the problem. Negotiating on my behalf, and negotiating away my right to protect myself and my family regardless of where I am. If I were to violate law, I would be nailed to the wall, whereas a Chicago gangster negotiates to get probation because he can squeal.

I'm unsure who said it, but the message was.....

We lost our rights over many years and the "slippery slope." We still can - with the left pushing and saying "we have to do SOMETHING!"
And to them that means passing laws AGAINST gun owners. Because they still can't figure out criminals don't obey the law.
If they did - then the statute against 'assault with a deadly weapon' would be enough. That would cover murder too, wouldn't it?

But since we've lost our rights over time and with little pushes - further and further - then we will ALWAYS be in a fight to regain our rights!
AND EXPECTING TO REGAIN THEM IN ONE FEEL SWOOP IS PLAIN FOOLISH!! The left will be pushing back. Until the sun finally burns out.

We simply must take this compromise bill if Madigan is behind it. Then work some more to slowly improve on it.

but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda,
they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."  — Jeff Cooper, The Art of the Rifle

I may get a permit.  Depends on if I'm allowed to.

If I have to go to Madigan's crony trainer who charges $100/hour and have to get 16 hours training from him......then no.

It may not get better in age, who knows. But I guaren gosh damn tee you it's better than what we have now. Look fellas I know this is a head butter for us but we're all adults. I hope each and every one of you chicago boys can make it down for the shoot and we'll talk more about it over hot brass and then a cold beer and grub. For now I'm going to back away from the keyboard and go have one of those cold ones. See ya this evening
"A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks"

Yes or No, nobody should be beating these people up.

Exactly! Regardless of anything, they have been busting their butts to get us this far.

Sorry but not worth the $, hassle or restrictions and I have waited for this since FL got theirs in 1987.
Sad but they have watered it down to the point where it just a joke.
Doing away with the ban on AR 15s and CFP in chicago is a joke? I think it's pretty damn impressive. Chicago boys have been saying no carve out, 1 state one law. Well this is one state one carry law AND it gets rid of your other stupid laws in one move! Do Chicago people ever appreciate any damn thing? And for you transit boys, buy a freaking car and drive yourself around or get the heck out of that damn city!
Those restrictions still would apply to non carry permit holders. I don't see what the big deal is. To get the carry permit we will go through more background checks and training than the CFP requires. The AWB, well, I guess I just can't grasp that since I don't live there. However, once we jump through the cc requirements we should be cleared to possess a bazooka IMO.

Does this mean I can open my mouth then....And last time I checked, not a single person has faulted Todd or Valinda on this, and only the misinformed beat up on Phelps. You need to realize that some people actually will not be able to afford this training/permit cost, as well as the other issues. Again, just like the other 15 threads of people posting stupid single liners telling other people how to think, you need to remember that telling people to shut their mouth when you're an adult just makes you sound like you don't have anything useful to say.
That is a good point.  I have heard (and been a part of) beating up this fecal sandwich that is being served up, but who are these people that have beat up Todd or Valinda.  The only thing that I would say to that end is that since I was able to sence the likelihood of a defeat like this or worse, I think that we could have been kept better informed on the progress or lack thereof.  As we can see, they don't need our analyst to serve up a load of crap for us.  We could have and should have been more open with each other about what the other side was trying to do and the likelihood that we could lose support.  I suggest that we have known who the fence sitters were for a long time and who would fold under pressure.  But that is just me and if we had known I don't know what we could have done about it, except this outcome would not have come as such a shock.  I think that Phelps actually tried to get the word out as evidenced with his radio interview.

If it is only a "background check", Why do they need the serial number of the firearm?

Wow, just wow.  I guess the underprivelleged don't deserve to protect themselves or their families.  Some people can't afford a vehicle.

Do I use public transporation?  No.
Do I visit Chicago?  No.
Am I willing to tell poor people to just shut up and die?  No

Sorry pal it's not a black and white issue...

In fact it's exactly akin to me stating...

If you oppose the FOID Act, and you have a FOID card, stop complaining about the FOID Act...

Same exact horribly flawed logic you are attempting to play off that is flawed to the core...

There is a world of gray out there, accept it...

I do kind of agree here, I mean, just because you have something doesn't mean you don't want to make it better.  Never settling is the key to success.

Maybe I misunderstood this bill - I thought passage would do away with the Chicago permit and the AWB.  These would still apply to a non-carry permit holder?

Nope.  I refuse to give this state 150 bucks on top of what is sure to be outrageous training fees when at most I'll be in this state 2 more years.  Other than that, stick your statement up your hind end sport.

If the training is too expensive, say $400 per day, then I would doubt it.

Why then?

Should you take advantage of a terrible law to offer more protection to your family?  Sure.
Do you have to support said terrible law?  No.

I don't get it.
because being a hypocrit does nothing to show how much you hated it.  if your really that against it you wouldnt get a permit under it.  that would be my guess.

I ride public transportation and would love to have a pistol in my briefcase as I go to work.  That won't happen.  I have to go through some bad neighborhoods on the blue line.

But as now, I still have to pray that no armed criminal gets on board.....I usually stick to the front most car of the L because the small time hustlers avoid it.
