1MEANGT Posted May 23, 2013 at 01:18 PM Posted May 23, 2013 at 01:18 PM Under Phelps newest bill will those of us with out of state permits like UT, FL, ect. have to complete another 16 hours or how many would we need to complete? Is there going to be a set cost for this training?
Livewire18 Posted May 23, 2013 at 01:23 PM Posted May 23, 2013 at 01:23 PM I suggest reading the bill. There is a LOT of misconception on the boards right now. However, you will be able to use up to 8 hours of previous handgun training if it is deemed done by an approved trainer. So, The Florida/Utah training is really more of an informative session, so unless you used something like NRA handgun basics, personal protection, etc... or hunter safety, etc... I doubt it will count.
TyGuy Posted May 23, 2013 at 02:24 PM Posted May 23, 2013 at 02:24 PM up to 8 hours of existing training will count. The other 8 hours must be new training. All training must be of the type approved by the ILSP.
45 whit Posted May 23, 2013 at 02:39 PM Posted May 23, 2013 at 02:39 PM That will save me 8 hrs then.
gangrel Posted May 23, 2013 at 02:50 PM Posted May 23, 2013 at 02:50 PM Yes, and who at ISP is going to determine which CCW training counts toward that 8 hours, and which doesn't? FL and AZ can be had with NRA Basic Pistol. Will they accept that toward the 8 hours? FL also allows for the IL Hunter Safety class? How about that one? The devil is in the ambiguity.
patriot1776 Posted May 23, 2013 at 02:53 PM Posted May 23, 2013 at 02:53 PM Costs will vary depending on where and who does the training .
