For those who had additional questions about the course:

Defensive Pistol I is designed to cater to those who have a strong operative knowledge of their gun, and want to progress to being able to deploy from a holster proficiently and safely. This is a big step from basic pistol and students must show competence with their firearm to take the course. Generally a student who has a strong background in safety, ie: a basic level course, or a thousand or so rounds out of their primary gun will be comfortable enough to progress to drawing from a holster, movement, rapid fire strings, firing on a cadenced line, and firing on multiple targets.

These are the kind of skills that can lay a foundation for further progress as a competitive action shooter, or defense minded individual.

Before you can consider utilizing a firearm to stop a viable threat, YOU HAVE TO KNOW WHAT YOU CAN DO!!!

We take this level of training very seriously, but you will understand why. We have quite a bit of background in current Law Enforcement curriculums, and we apply as much of those techniques to these courses as we can.

Please do not hesitate to contact me directly if you have any other questions.

We will accept basic pistol, first steps pistol, or a brief description of your experience with firearms as to round count and ability.

I realize that you may find that to be ambiguous, however with so many companies demanding proof of training to sqeeze out a basic pistol course here and there....I'm just not going to do that.

We are all adults here, and during the initial class briefing I will reiterate just what is expected of a student as far as safe practices are concerned. This message will be delivered in no uncertain terms.

To surmise,

If you can demonstrate and respect the three NRA rules of safety..

If you can respect and follow the commands of instructors and rso's on a firing line..

If you can draw from a holster and reholster without covering yourself or others around you..

If you are familiar enough with your pistol to comfortably operate the controls without staring at it..

If you come with a good attitude and a desire to develop as a shooter...

Than you will be fine, and I will be thrilled to have you as a student.

If you cannot do those things, you are simply in need of a little more experience before you take this step. No biggie, we can help you there as well. This really is the last meritocrasy, if you misrepresent these types of things to someone you are paying for training, you will be doing yourself a disservice.

I like to recommend to anyone that is looking to get in to a defensive pistol course that you take you primary firearm snd holster and carry it cold (unloaded..mag out) around the house to walk up and down stairs, do chores bend down and such. A few hours a day for afew days. It will be fairly obvious who has done this. The comfort level stands out.
