Bhawk99 Posted May 20, 2013 at 07:52 PM Posted May 20, 2013 at 07:52 PM These clowns never let up. This is only going to make our victory even more sweeter.
Molly B. Posted May 21, 2013 at 04:31 AM Posted May 21, 2013 at 04:31 AM The argument presented today in committee in favor of banning these standard capacity magazines was that it would cause a mass shooter to stop and reload more often and in theory creating a window of escape for victims. 1. We know how fast a mag change can be - nanoseconds.2. Most importantly, why are we concentrating on ways to make shooters change mags once they start shooting up our schools - why are we not concentrating on ways to stop these shooters at the door?!
kevinmcc Posted May 21, 2013 at 05:23 AM Posted May 21, 2013 at 05:23 AM The real argument is this, turn their argument around with the true purpose of firearms and facts. *** Reality - Purpose of firearms, survival, defense and hunting. *** Reality - Civilian firearms are used as defensive weapons more often than offensive weapons. Their argument, reloading will cause delays and opportunity for unarmed people to escape or fight back. Although this maybe true, a suicidal criminal on a rampage is not going to follow any laws, especially bans or criminal law enhancements. *** Reality - Reloading will cause delays and opportunity for criminals to kill you. *** Reality - They are manufacturing more innocent victims through legislation. These people writing this garbage are so narrowly focused on criminals, their solution is creating more laws that only hinder law abiding citizens. Sometimes I just want to reach through my computer and slap these people, wake up to reality, please!
Chbm Posted May 21, 2013 at 05:52 AM Posted May 21, 2013 at 05:52 AM Yep it boggles me every time I have to go to our county courthouse for anything. There are armed officers and a metal detector at the door. Why is it that our kids don't deserve the same level of protection? The argument presented today in committee in favor of banning these standard capacity magazines was that it would cause a mass shooter to stop and reload more often and in theory creating a window of escape for victims. 1. We know how fast a mag change can be - nanoseconds.2. Drylok Posted May 21, 2013 at 12:05 PM Posted May 21, 2013 at 12:05 PM It wouldn't have mattered if any of these guys had to change mags multiple times because there was nobody else there with a firearm to stop them since these all happened in gun free zones.
ChicagoSigFan Posted May 21, 2013 at 02:02 PM Posted May 21, 2013 at 02:02 PM No disrespect to Todd, but these talking points are seriously weak tea. If these are the best reasons we can come up with in opposition to a mag ban, then why bother? Are we seriously trying to convince anyone to support us by raising the prospect of a de facto ban on the Henry rifle? What about - if it's good enough for the police to use to defend themselves, then it's good enough to defend my family? What about arbitrariness - why 10? Why not 11 or 9? What about the fact that several mass shootings have involved firearms with 10 round magazines? What about the fact that this will only affect law abiding gun owners? What about stories of innocent victims who have saved their lives and the lives of their families when forced to confront multiple attackers? What about mentioning that Chicago already limits mags to 12 rounds with absollutely zero impact on gun violence? Where are the handouts with these talking points?
junglebob Posted May 21, 2013 at 02:23 PM Posted May 21, 2013 at 02:23 PM BTW, Where is that email list for all the state senators?
