Added a little something to the collection.

Any suggestions for the XD's? I'm looking to accessorize and am in the market for those talon rubber grips...anyone use them? In some pics they look gray against the black plastic of the gun.

Anyone recommend any cool things for it to "spiff it up" a little?

I have the rubber Talon grips on mine and absolutely love 'em. They do appear grey in color against the black grip, but does not bother me. The Pearce grip extensions also work well and give you a little more to hold onto. Great little gun. No complaints here. Enjoy it!

Congrats! You'll enjoy it, I kept mine as is but did pick up 2 seven round mags from springfield. Just ordered an alabama pocket holster for it to carry in cargo pants and may get a crossbreed minituck as well.

Be sure to pick up the pearce mag extension as they are perfect. On ebay, they are normally the cheapest. I got a really nice iwb holster at www.kusiakleather.com for a great price. I also have talons and they don't appear that gray in person, only on the pics. My next investment will be some night sights.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I've been looking for the 7 round mag but so far not found it. Mine came with two 5'ers. I plan to run it through it's paces this weekend and hope to get those talons and an iwb holster.

I am with the KISS (keep it simple stupid) camp.

If it was not built with it…do not put it inside your firearm. If you want to add rough textured grip-tape, go for it. Light or laser? Go for it. Otherwise there is nothing else that you can possibly do to it that will make it more reliable or “better.”

If you want to make it look cooler you can always have it engraved or personalized but it is not necessary.

The talon grip, at least for me softened the xds's grip because it started to hurt after 50 rounds. Here is a picture of my hand after 40 rounds before I installed the talons.

Pearce grips extensions, Talon rubber grips, bought 1 more 5 rd mag and a 7 rd mag from SA (the 7 rd mag comes with 2 different sized sleeves to match which ever back strap you are using) and got them in less than a week! Then shoot the heck out of it! Mine shoots great, but the stock grips get old real fast! It's a great pistol and very accurate out to 30 ft, probibly farther but I did my shooting at 30 ft.

~250 rounds in a session is about my threshold. Its not that the grips are too coarse for me, its the energy from the 45 after repeated shots. I feel it right in the web and heal of my hand.

The gun runs better the more rounds you have through it. I'm ~1000 and I've not had any failures, but some have.

I'll second the powder river trigger spring kit. It made a nice difference. I dont know about the 7rd mag availability... I got mine for $29+shipping well before sandy hook - I imagine they'll get there again before too long.

More Mags, More ammo, More Training........

PJ holsters has nice IWB holsters (Kydex) and Mag pouches (Kydex) for the XDs.

++ for pj holsters. I have one for my Shield. Works great. But....it took about 8 weeks to get it.

I didn't do a damn thing to mine except put Trijicon SG01s on it. Those are the Trijicons that fit on the XDS even though they're made for Sigs. I thought about getting a PRP extended grip safety then saw how much they cost and nixed that but I'd definitely go with night sights, a good IWB holster (I have a Crossbreed MiniTuck but it took over 8 weeks from order to ship) and 7 rd mags. Actually I have a pair of 7 rd mags coming from Brownells. They were on backorder for so long that I just said screw it and bought some from Springfield. I really don't need them, willing to sell them at my cost. $32.99/mag I believe is what I paid but I'd have to double check its been 5 months.

Talon rubber grips, comp tac minotaur, remora 6art, and big dots. Still waiting for the big dots, those buggers are hard to find.

Oh and gold dots. If you can find them.

So I took out and ran just under 200 rounds of 3 brands of ammo and had 3 no fires. I cleared the round and it had been struck all three times. the last two were Winchester white box. Not sure what is up with that. The last two happened towards the last 20-30 rounds.

NakPPI - Light primer strikes. But looking at the strikes they looked deep enough but I guess not. Any tips?

Prp trigger kit. 10-8 red fiber u rear sight or trijicon HDS. Stiple the grip if you need help I can help you out. +1 on the crossbreed. Too bad no vg2 for this one.

Loctite/regularly check your gear. A gun falling off your belt is unacceptable

#1 reason for light strikes and/or FTF issues is a wet striker channel. Detail strip it, well the striker portion at least and thoroughly clean it and let it dry. XDs have problems with wet striker channels, the design of the pistol itself. I had that problem, cleaned it and let it dry overnight, shot it the next day and no issues.

Is that issue strictly an XDs problem? Something with the XDs design?? I have two XDM's and never had that problem.

One thing to double-check: when you order the Talon Rubber grip stuff, make sure you order the RUBBER grip stuff. I ordered the Granulate black, thinking it was just one of two different rubber textures. This is not true. The granulate tape is basically 150 grit sandpaper, and was very uncomfortable to hold.

On the other hand, I'll also vouch for the Pearce extensions.
