Nic Posted May 17, 2013 at 04:20 AM Posted May 17, 2013 at 04:20 AM Might as well play the game. Call up your Chicago or Chicago-Machine Influenced Senator and tell them that you oppose the concealed carry bill and if they vote for it, you will work to prevent their re-election. It won't be a lie and you don't have to tell them that you really want a GOOD concealed carry bill. Use their own game to kill their BAD bill.
skinnyb82 Posted May 17, 2013 at 04:40 AM Posted May 17, 2013 at 04:40 AM Are you serious? They don't care, even if they did they would be committing career suicide at the least by going against Rahm and Madigan...and Bloomberg. They will destroy any Chicago Senator who does this for having so much as an unpaid parking ticket. Best case (for them), this is their last term in office and none of their bills will be called to a vote. I imagine anyone even considering riding the fence has already been threatened. C0untZer0 Posted May 17, 2013 at 04:53 AM Posted May 17, 2013 at 04:53 AM I call them anyway. On IGOLD day I dropped off my slips and my kid's slips to Madigan and Cullerton. Years ago, I had a staffer from Durbin's office call me to tell me to stop sending letters. I get satisfaction knowing that those demogogs didn't get one single phone call or e-mail from anyone asking for gun control and they know it, but they damn well heard from me. .
The 45 King Posted May 17, 2013 at 07:57 AM Posted May 17, 2013 at 07:57 AM Article in the RRSTAR today grab a paper page 3a. Just finished printing it. This bill they are trying to pass is a waste of paper. These crooks are going to try and make it practically impossible to get a permit.

njr Posted May 17, 2013 at 12:06 PM Posted May 17, 2013 at 12:06 PM I called the ISRA yesterday and got the name of a handful of senators and reps who were on the fence. I will call Phelps' office today and urge him not to do a Michael Collins and tarnish his legacy. I emphasized three points: 1. The second amendment to the Bill of Rights was put there as a check on the power of the ruling class. Representatives of the ruling class have no right limiting our rights. If they are concerned about public safety, mass shootings, etc. they should reduce alienation, provide mental health services and reduce poverty by taxing the rich and instituting social democracy the way they have done in Western Europe and Canada, instead of shoveling money at the superrich to the tune of $23 trillion since the crisis really started in 2008. 2. My father's family was murdered by the fascist occupation government in Belarus in 1943 because they were Jews and because they were probably left. Again, bearing arms is a natural right that the state has no right to limit. 3. As a student and teacher of self defense, I have been invited to teach in the ghetto up in northern IL. One resident was raped recently when she came home to a burglary. If she had been armed, she would have had a chance to shoot the ******* and remain whole. Please don't buckle to the scum that run the state and please vote against murder and rape. Thank you.
oldude Posted May 17, 2013 at 01:05 PM Posted May 17, 2013 at 01:05 PM reduce poverty by taxing the rich and instituting social democracy the way they have done in Western Europe and Canada, Hopefully I have mis-read or possibly misunderstood the intent/meaning of your post but if not, Move there.
Xwing Posted May 17, 2013 at 01:39 PM Posted May 17, 2013 at 01:39 PM I will continue (as usual) to call and email the Senators today. And njr, sounds like you are proposing socialism here. That's a bad move. Please realize that the anti-gun politicians (aka Obama) are socialists. The pro-gun folks are generally pro-freedom (and therefore anti-socialism) as well...BTW, the upper class is already badly over-taxed. Realize that 100% of the income taxes are paid by 53% of the country, and that the top 10% of the income earners pay a whopping 71 percent of all income tax. And that isn't high enough?!!!
C0untZer0 Posted May 17, 2013 at 07:44 PM Posted May 17, 2013 at 07:44 PM Word in the herd is that stopconcealedcarry.org opposed this bill and threw the full weight and force of the organization into a determined and successful effort to kill it.

IMO that doesn't surprise me, they don't want any law abiding citizen to carry, period. Not even the most restricted law that is crafted.
vezpa Posted May 17, 2013 at 08:59 PM Posted May 17, 2013 at 08:59 PM It took me an hour to stop laughing at the title of this thread. .
moon Posted May 17, 2013 at 09:52 PM Posted May 17, 2013 at 09:52 PM Are you serious? They don't care, .... YES - Everyone in Chicago needs to do this even if they don't care. Being complacent and just watching your rights get flushed is as bad as being part of the problem. Yes, call and then call again and again and again. Their attacks on our rights is relentless our counters need to be relentless too. The more air we can fan on this fire the better for us.
DjachDjach Posted May 17, 2013 at 10:56 PM Posted May 17, 2013 at 10:56 PM I make the calls. I know that my senator and rep are complete (fill in the blank), but at least I know I'm doing my part! They're still going to try their best to keep CC from the law-abiding citizens, but making the calls (for better or worse) is better than doing nothing..
njr Posted May 18, 2013 at 12:02 AM Posted May 18, 2013 at 12:02 AM Let's see...in re to rightwingers and this organization....I wasn't aware that one had to be right wing to support the second amendment. Please see above re why left wingers have actually supported the second amendment. See also, history of labor, civil rights, Black power movements. In re to taxes and the rich, this might help you: http://www.salon.com/2004/02/09/johnston_8/ In re to 'murica, love it or leave it: my mom's side is actually somewhat casino Indian. So, you first. I would rather combine some of my ancestor's primitive communism with the more updated version. Go figya.

I'm saying threatening to not vote for them is pointless, not calling them and harrassing them to vote for something. I'm all for that but threatening to not vote for them if they don't listen to you? They already know that youre not gonna vote for them it's implied. I constantly email Durbin, I don't bother threatening to not vote for him. That's a given unless he believes that I'm mentally retarded and I don't know how he votes...he knows I'm aware, he just doesnt care because he doesn't need me and knows I vote against him. Same comparison. I'd be all up in Madigan's business if he were my Rep but would I even bother to threaten to not vote for him? No. Sent from my SCH-R530U using Tapatalk 2
