Tvandermyde Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:24 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:24 PM We obtained a draft of the Kwame bill late last night. Its 200 pages. By my read it is may issue cause it still has the good moral character clause. It is illinois specific training, and everyone will have to take it first. You can imagine the list of no carry places from the last bill they are about the same. No mass transit, no resteraunts, no parks, yada yada yada. Home rule units will be able to pass additional restrictions on where you can carry so just look at what proposed in amendments to hb1155 and you can see this is a no carry bill. And under the version we have seen, they can continue to change their ordinances in perpituity. New home rule untis that become after the date of this act will be able to add new ordiances and change them. You will need to plead with the chicago superintendant to get a chicago endorsement and fork over another $50 which is non-refundable failure to get a chicago endorsement will get you a felony if you step outside your car They have tossed in some gun control for good measure, lost or stolen, and no private sales. Still reading through most of it. Committe around 11 in senate Exec More later
wtr100 Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:25 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:25 PM must kill it with fire Thanks Todd
snashmcsd Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:26 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:26 PM Thanks for all you do Todd.
prsman23 Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:26 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:26 PM Seems like we need to light up the phones today guys.
TyGuy Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:28 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:28 PM Which committee is it? Do you have a bill numbeR?
Tim4k5 Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:30 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:30 PM Thanks for the update Todd. I used to tell everyone I spoke with here downstate that going over the cliff was something we wanted to avoid at all costs......now.....not so much. Bring it on.
azone5 Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:37 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:37 PM The cliff is our friend. No bad bill.
3ddiver Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:38 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:38 PM Sounds like a reasonable bill to me..... Cant find the purple on my phone.
Jeffrey Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:39 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:39 PM Sounds like 200 pieces of TP. What a waste of time. It is just such a shame these people want to waste everyones time instead of getting EVERYONE together and compromise on a GOOD, STATEWIDE bill.
wtr100 Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:39 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:39 PM Cliff <> friend - didn't ya'll see the list of home rule places with essentially that same ordinance as the current UUW We gotta keep pressure on downstate
chicago guy Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:40 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:40 PM It seems the basic idea is to make a bill so bad that they have plenty of room to "compromise" and we should then be grateful for whatever we get, considering how bad it could have been? I say wait em out, they can't pass this without some of our side,
POAT54 Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:41 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:41 PM draft of the Kwame bill . Its 200 pages. By my read it is may issue cause it still has the good moral character clause. Now I see why McCarthy said people who support NRA, ISRA, and son on are corrupt.
Patriots & Tyrants Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:45 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:45 PM Are these guys smoking crack? May issue AND a Chicago Carve Out AND a special Chicago stamp? Insanity. Keep it up Todd
TyGuy Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:53 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:53 PM And homerule can do whatever they want. I'm sure this law would be destroyed in CA7, but who wants to take the time and money to get it up there. Let's just kill it now.
SAXD9 Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:53 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:53 PM Will you be testifying in committee on this? Do you know when it will be filed so we can access it?
cm.stites Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:57 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:57 PM The cliff is our friend. No bad bill.not so friendly when you have places like kankakee county that are already looking to put ordinances in effect to prevent carry
burningspear Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:59 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 01:59 PM Thanks, ToddReject the entire bill. Do not accept garbage. The right to keep and bear arms will come, if not sooner then later. No bad bill. One State. You, Sir, are the king on the mountain. If you have to jump off the cliff, so be it. I, for one, will jump with you.
Matt B Posted May 16, 2013 at 02:00 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 02:00 PM So any downstate senators voting for this also have to explain to their constituents why they voted for additional gun control. Hopefully this is another incentive to vote no!
Hatchet Posted May 16, 2013 at 02:01 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 02:01 PM The cliff is our friend. No bad bill.not so friendly when you have places like kankakee county that are already looking to put ordinances in effect to prevent carry And i'm sure carbondale and champaign would be right behind them due to the college campuses.
Talonap Posted May 16, 2013 at 02:02 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 02:02 PM Do we have a bill number yet? didn't't find anything on the Exec Commitee's schedule about it for today. Something about films and video gaming. Of course they may not know anything about it yet either...
cm.stites Posted May 16, 2013 at 02:04 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 02:04 PM champaign im not so sure about.. urbana maybe but it would be a tougher sell in champaign. our local sherriff doesnt support gun control or may issue...and has said theyve never had a shooting in this county with a so called assault rifle. but it would be hard to have champaign/urbana split because some of the city lines are in the middle of the street.
Patriots & Tyrants Posted May 16, 2013 at 02:08 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 02:08 PM Next time I call up my elected officials I will remind them that this bill becomng law will just lead to more multi million dollar lawsuits against the state of Illinois.
vezpa Posted May 16, 2013 at 02:12 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 02:12 PM Why aren't we thanking these people for making the bill so erroneous and easy to defeat? They are actually going to help us pass 997. .
TyGuy Posted May 16, 2013 at 02:13 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 02:13 PM The cliff is our friend. No bad bill.not so friendly when you have places like kankakee county that are already looking to put ordinances in effect to prevent carryMeh, it's all talk until we go over the cliff and they realize that they will be held PERSONALLY liable for civil rights violations. I think such talk is a way to intimidate us not to carry and to intimidate the legislature to pass SOMETHING.
TyGuy Posted May 16, 2013 at 02:14 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 02:14 PM Why aren't we thanking these people for making the bill so erroneous and easy to defeat? They are actually going to help us pass 997. .Because that secret bill that Todd hasn't seen is going to be a "reasonable" "compromise" that they will offer up in place of this piece of garbage. That's my thinking.
Patriots & Tyrants Posted May 16, 2013 at 02:15 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 02:15 PM Why aren't we thanking these people for making the bill so erroneous and easy to defeat? They are actually going to help us pass 997. They want a Chicago May No issue carve out and they want to let Chicago set their own rules. That is what this is about. If Madigan somehow gets a bad bill through the Senate he very well may get just that. His ONLY chance of getting that is by getting a bad bill passed in the Senate or somehow slipping through a bad bill in the house (Unlikly). We need to thank our state senators and reps who have been pro 2A in the past and remind those who are wishy-washy that they are gone if they support a may issue bill.
cm.stites Posted May 16, 2013 at 02:31 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 02:31 PM The cliff is our friend. No bad bill.not so friendly when you have places like kankakee county that are already looking to put ordinances in effect to prevent carryMeh, it's all talk until we go over the cliff and they realize that they will be held PERSONALLY liable for civil rights violations. I think such talk is a way to intimidate us not to carry and to intimidate the legislature to pass SOMETHING.might wanna get a ruling from the supreme court or make sure cert is denied before claiming concealed carrying a weapon is a right first. theres no ruling that affirms it as a right as of yet other then posners and if its not entered before then your gonna have a tough court battle.
cm.stites Posted May 16, 2013 at 02:31 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 02:31 PM I really have no way of reading it right now but what in the absolute heck does no private sales entail? It can't be exactly what it means ... means you cant sell your firearms to anyone other then a dealer..
Booxone Posted May 16, 2013 at 02:34 PM Posted May 16, 2013 at 02:34 PM emailed senator to vote no on this bill
