dorvinion Posted November 7, 2006 at 08:35 PM Posted November 7, 2006 at 08:35 PM I just happened to run across this while I was looking for hunting info. http://dnr.state.il.us/lands/Landmgt/Progr...ng/handtrap.htm It says these parks have "hand trap" ranges, but I'm kinda hoping you can bring a mechanical launcher. We'll see I guess
anonymous too Posted November 8, 2006 at 04:04 AM Posted November 8, 2006 at 04:04 AM They just mean no electric ones. Spring operated ones are fine on DNR land in IL.
xipo297 Posted November 9, 2006 at 12:51 AM Posted November 9, 2006 at 12:51 AM We shoot regularly at Silver Springs and The Des Plaines Conservation Area. Silver Springs is nice and clean. Shooters pick up after themselves. It has picnic tables and a fishing pond across the street as well as archery range. Des Plaines is closer to my house so we shoot there more but it lacks the picnic tables and cleanliness. I have on a couple of occassions seen guys with the electric throwers which work very well, but as a rule hand throwers are very common. I shoot my Mossberg 500 and we have a blast, (Pun intended) Xi
anonymous too Posted November 9, 2006 at 01:09 AM Posted November 9, 2006 at 01:09 AM The park officials will make you stop using the electric throwers if they catch you. Don't know why they don't allow them. The women's wingshooting clinics use them. Go figure.
dorvinion Posted November 9, 2006 at 01:22 AM Author Posted November 9, 2006 at 01:22 AM Glad to hear a favorable personal account. When i make it I'll probably go to Silver Springs since its closer than Des Plaines.
dorvinion Posted November 22, 2006 at 09:03 PM Author Posted November 22, 2006 at 09:03 PM Do they require all shooters have a FOID? I've got a friend I'd like to to bring along and I'm fairly sure he doesn't have a FOID (yet) Hmm, according to the guy at Silver Springs, they don't even ask.Seems very unusual for Illinois.
anonymous too Posted November 23, 2006 at 01:56 AM Posted November 23, 2006 at 01:56 AM As long as they are under your supervision the state calls it a "training exemption".
