InterestedBystander Posted May 3, 2013 at 12:14 AM Posted May 3, 2013 at 12:14 AM I looked but didn't see this listed elsewhere. Today I tried accessing the site from my smartphone for the first time and although I can access the home page, attempts to access forums presented me with a message that I don't have permissions to view. I tried to click sign in, click on the help link, click on the "mobil theme" button I saw at the bottom and received the same no permission message on each one. Sorry, you don't have permission for that! You are not allowed to visit this community Thanks
dorvinion Posted May 3, 2013 at 12:24 AM Posted May 3, 2013 at 12:24 AM I can't speak to the problem other than to say my recommended solution is just get Tapatalk 2 Much much easier and more convenient than even a mobile theme would be. One of the best app purchases I've made. 2.99 for Android iirc Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Pangari1 Posted May 3, 2013 at 12:35 AM Posted May 3, 2013 at 12:35 AM X2 for tapatalk 2. Log on several forums that way Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2

Wondering if the admins may have put on an IP range / domain name block of some sort in the past. Although that would seem to be an extreme way of blocking someone since it has a broad impact, I've seen it done in other forums before just not recently.
cls74 Posted May 7, 2013 at 04:24 PM Posted May 7, 2013 at 04:24 PM I've been experiencing the same issues. Only way I can get out of it is to reboot my phone then access is allowed again. It won't let me sign in or out, just says I don't have permission. For that and I'm not allowed to view this community. It just started yesterday and has done it 3 times since including just now. I have tap a talk as well, but prefer full site use. Hopefully if there was an upgrade or tweak made it can be remedied.

Rebooting probably assigns a new IP address and that's why I think there's an IP range ban configured somewhere in the system. I found similar messages discussed on other forums related to IPBoard which runs here. Admins typically went in and removed said bans and person was good to go. I've considered messaging an admin from the admin list directly to see if they can take a look as it's pretty annoying. Unless tapatalk has a proxy server they are running traffic through, I expect you will get the same response using it. BTW, you're not a T-mobile user by any chance are you?

A useless ineffective way to block anyone determined to access... You will almost always catch more dolphins then tuna using IP blocks... To the OP what phone, what browser, want mobile OS? The default Android browser, can access the forum but like most mobile browsers although some things can get a little wonky... If you want more of a desktop experience with a mobile Android device use Firefox, Skyfire or Opera browsers...

RockerXX Posted May 7, 2013 at 10:23 PM Posted May 7, 2013 at 10:23 PM Try clearing your cache and cookies on the phone, you might have a corrupt file or cookie... If that doesn't work... Go to http://rxproxy.com and then type in and 'go' to http://illinoiscarry.com/forum from the http://rxproxy.com page... If the site works then it appears that some sloppy IP blocking is going here or possibly content blocking by your provider...
InterestedBystander Posted May 7, 2013 at 11:12 PM Author Posted May 7, 2013 at 11:12 PM > possibly content blocking by your provider... The permission not allowed message is coming from ILCarry or rather IPBoard as I can get to the ILCarry homepage. My first attempt to come here I did have to go in and allow mature content from my mobile settings but that stopped the site immediately before getting here. Like the other poster, happening sporadically and clearing up after a phone reboot makes me think IP blocking. But I'll try the proxy next time it happens.
pyre400 Posted May 7, 2013 at 11:50 PM Posted May 7, 2013 at 11:50 PM First the distinction - this is illinoiscarry. Some use the name loosely, but there is an ILCarry which is another board. I would look into using multiple devices. There could be a key problem - I've been made aware of several complaints which I'm looking into now.
InterestedBystander Posted May 8, 2013 at 12:48 AM Author Posted May 8, 2013 at 12:48 AM I had no idea there was an ILCarry as I was just abbreviating to save typing. Thanks for letting me know for future reference so I don't misdirect anyone. I'm not sure what you mean by trying multiple devices since I've only got one phone. If I'm home or have wifi access, I don't have any problems from my laptop on Windows or Linux, my Android Tablet, nor my Windows desktop, but they're using a different provider obviously and would have different IP ranges assigned. I can't make the problem happen on demand which makes troubleshooting difficult and I havent had a problem for 2-3 days now. Apparently its more of an issue for cls74 right now as posted above. Thanks for looking into it and hope you can find the problem.

No, AT&T iPhone 4S using standard safari browser using full site not mobile version. The first time it happened was the day before yesterday. I was reading the CFP renewal thread, typed out a reply and after I hit the post button it said I did not have permission for that. Had two links in the message one to FAQ(I think) and one to email Admin. I sent an email and Valinda(sp?) replied back to try and log out and back in. By that point it I had already rebooted my phone and it allowed me to access the site again. Later it did the same thing, so I tried to log out but it wouldn't let me do that either. I rebooted my phone and was able to access the site again but I was logged out when I returned. Happened one time yesterday and hasn't happened since. It's not a big deal, just a bit inconvenient. It's a bit weird actually, because when it does it it still shows my user name and such in the upper right corner so it recognizes the cookie storing my info but doesn't like something else until a reboot.
InterestedBystander Posted May 20, 2013 at 02:55 PM Author Posted May 20, 2013 at 02:55 PM After a couple weeks. this. problem. has returned. Tapatalk also fails. Rebooting phone not working. Access thru painfully slow proxy server
scough Posted May 20, 2013 at 04:50 PM Posted May 20, 2013 at 04:50 PM I'm seeing intermittant problems with Verizonwireless too. When I click on the bookmark, the page takes forever to process, but it eventually stops, and I get a blank screen. Tapatalk does the same. I can try any other site and everything works fine. I'm starting to wonder if Verizon is monkeying with blockage or harrassment on some level.
pyre400 Posted May 20, 2013 at 05:36 PM Posted May 20, 2013 at 05:36 PM Guys with access problems, please try again and note the time in this thread. I'll try to do a trace. If its at our end, I'll correct, otherwise its likely a device/provider issue. Thanks
InterestedBystander Posted May 21, 2013 at 12:28 AM Author Posted May 21, 2013 at 12:28 AM Just got home to catch up on todays activity. Still having problems with mobile access. Tapatalk= receiving, processing, failed to connect - contact provider if this continues. It works on other sites. 7:26-7:27 PM Havent been able to connect to forums via Android 4.04 stock browser or Chrome today. Using a proxy server I was able to connect and log-in but I finally gave up on it due to speed and other flakeyness. Android 7:30PM Sorry, you don't have permission for that. You are not allowed to visit this community. This is the IPBoard forums only as I can access non forum sections. Chrome 7:32 PM same as above Thanks much for looking into this. BTW, Board time seems to be a few minutes slower than my phone time. IP on this last reboot is 208.54.80.233 (the tests above were done on it) . I'd looked for it before, but the phone wouldn't show it. Hadn't thought about that site. Let me know if you need anything else.

If its at our end, I'll correct, otherwise its likely a device/provider issue. And to help this out, immediately after getting refused, go to http://www.whatismyip.com/ and get your IP to include with the time and date so the powers can easily cross reference the server logs to see if you are even connecting to this site...
spu69 Posted May 21, 2013 at 12:58 AM Posted May 21, 2013 at 12:58 AM I'm still using the original tapatalk and literally only use it for IC and a metal detecting forum. Is it worth it to upgrade? I'm all about the latest and greatest but I'm trying to save money anywhere I can. I considered it for iphone, but when I checked the reviews, they weren't good. Many were unhappy about feature reductions. I suggest you look at the reviews in the app store (or play store if you have android) before upgrading. Don

InterestedBystander Posted June 2, 2013 at 03:34 AM Author Posted June 2, 2013 at 03:34 AM Problem is back 208.54.80.255 just a minute or two before posting this.
InterestedBystander Posted June 2, 2013 at 07:52 PM Author Posted June 2, 2013 at 07:52 PM problem continues today 6/2 @ 2:54PM. IP address is 208.54.80.245. Previous problem IPs of 208.54.80.233 and 208.54.80.255 would cause me to ask if there's a block with the 208.54.80.xxx range?
InterestedBystander Posted June 4, 2013 at 12:07 AM Author Posted June 4, 2013 at 12:07 AM and since it's too late to edit the previous post...when I was finally able to get assigned a new IP address today it was 208.54.80.242. And as expected I can't access the forums with the same error messages as described above. Is it possible to fix the whole .80. octect?
pyre400 Posted June 4, 2013 at 01:54 PM Posted June 4, 2013 at 01:54 PM No, it should not be... I'll take a look here shortly. The system will flag spammers and they will be banned. Its possible there's a spammer that's causing those ip's to be filtered, but they're on a case by case basis.
pyre400 Posted June 4, 2013 at 01:57 PM Posted June 4, 2013 at 01:57 PM There was one other ip on that subnet, which was not the one you had posted. I've removed it from the filter - let me know how you fare.
InterestedBystander Posted June 4, 2013 at 05:26 PM Author Posted June 4, 2013 at 05:26 PM Thanks. I'm good at the moment. Earlier.. 80.232 was failing and now i have .80.238 which is ok. I assume it was your change that fixed things
pyre400 Posted June 4, 2013 at 05:43 PM Posted June 4, 2013 at 05:43 PM I dont recall which one, but there's obviously a known spammer using ATT. I'll keep an eye out the next time I see a spammer, and see if the ip is in that subnet. Anyhow, glad its working for you again.
