glockready Posted February 25, 2013 at 02:46 PM Posted February 25, 2013 at 02:46 PM http://www.change.org/petitions/chicago-mayor-rahm-emanuel-chicago-police-superintendent-garry-mccarthy-require-each-chicago-officer-to-take-ccw-sensitivity-course Here is a link to the petition started on Change.org This petition is asking that Rahm Emanuel & Garry McCarthy require each Chicago Police Officer to take a sensitivity course on how to deal with armed law-abiding citizens. Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy has said “I don’t care if they’re licensed legal firearms, people who are not highly trained… putting guns in their hands is a recipe for disaster. So I’ll train our officers that there is a concealed carry law, but when somebody turns with a firearm in their hand the officer does not have an obligation to wait to get shot to return fire and we’re going to have tragedies as a result of that. I’m telling you right up front.” Make Garry McCarthy train his Officers how to interact with law-abiding gun owners. Illinois will have concealed carry in 2013. We must make sure that the law-abiding gun owners are safe when dealing with Chicago Police. Garry McCarthy has said that "firearm owners who lobby their representatives, or who donate money to political campaigns, for pro-Second Amendment issues are guilty of corruption and of endangering public safety." Will law-abiding gun owners be gunned down by Chicago Police Officers? What is Garry McCarthy's message to his Officers? Police Officers in Illinois already receive training in human relations, cultural diversity, including racial and ethnic sensitivity. Chicago Police will obviously need sensitivity training for dealing with citizens who are carrying a firearm for self defense.

CM_50BMG Posted February 25, 2013 at 03:21 PM Posted February 25, 2013 at 03:21 PM I signed it and asked Garry "lights out" McCarthy to contact his rep and help push through a good bill with the NRA approved amendments.
Stevepk Posted February 25, 2013 at 03:21 PM Posted February 25, 2013 at 03:21 PM The re-education needs to start at the very top!

Seriously? Firearm owners are guilty of corruption for supporting the people we want to lead us? We're endangering public safety? Moron.

SILmama Posted February 25, 2013 at 08:45 PM Posted February 25, 2013 at 08:45 PM Sorry folks, I'm on the other side on this one. I'm afraid any requirement for retraining LE could be used by the other side to insert a delay in implementing any bill that is passed. Guess this very long process has made me more than a little paranoid. If it doesn't result in a delay, then I'm 100% in favor, otherwise, no.

I don't think Chicago has a choice as far as time frame goes. The Federal Court has issued their order. The clock is ticking! There will be Concealed Carry whether Gary McCarthy and his boyfiend Rahm Emanuel like it or not. If they want to lock people up, then they better be ready to $$ pay up $$ all the Civil Lawsuits that come their way.
glockready Posted February 25, 2013 at 08:50 PM Author Posted February 25, 2013 at 08:50 PM The re-education needs to start at the very top! I agree. It should start with the Mayor who took an oath to uphold the Constitution of The United States of America. We don't get to pick and choose whats parts we want to uphold and which parts we want to destroy. Chicago is long overdue for letting their citizens take care of themselves. Remember the Supreme Court has ruled in many cases that the police have no duty to protect civilians only a duty to uphold the laws.
