Tvandermyde Posted February 23, 2013 at 04:56 PM Posted February 23, 2013 at 04:56 PM We have just learned that the shell bill HB-1155 will be used for a series of amendments ALL dealing with the issue of Right to Carry. Expect numerous amendments in any way shape and form that you can imagine to slice and dice and maybe get gotcha votes against our supporters. If you saw the testimony yesterday, they don;t want you to be able to be anywhere near where alcohol is being served. As an example. We also know the antis really. Now is the time to call your state representatives, email them, hit their facebook pages and tell them NO BAD BILL, NO BAD AMENDMENTS.We know they will try and pass a MAY issue amendment, they will try to jack up fees. They will try to delay the implimentation of the law. They want a regulatory ban on carrying so we have to go back to court. It all starts on Tuesday at Noon. Sound the klaxon
Molly B. Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:00 PM Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:00 PM Hey folks, do we have a list of links for facebook pages for all 118 state reps?
THE KING Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:01 PM Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:01 PM Thanks Todd I am so sick of these a**HATS trying to ram through bad bills it makes me sick. KING
AOJ Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:10 PM Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:10 PM Thanks Todd. Emails sent to my rep. Sounds like they're scared and they know that our bill will pass if it gets brought up for a vote.
WindyCityGuy Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:11 PM Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:11 PM Hopefully HB0997 cosponsors hold the line but with slimeball Madigan at the helm, and surely a majority vote only needed for their planned piece of crap, we are short a block. We need 20 to hold with our co-sponsors. My rep is Ann Wiliams so while I sent an email i don't expect to turn her to our side. Would be GREAT to have Facebook links/email addresses for all the other reps!
Sweeper13 Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:17 PM Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:17 PM Thanks Todd. My NEW Rep Willis said : I will not be a cosponsor of hb 997, since it is still changing. However that does not mean that I will be voting against it. It is important to me to wait until the final bill is presented for the vote. My intent is to support the best legislation that I can that preserves the second amendment while protecting the safety of our citizens. Shes on the Firearms Working Group.
RINGKINGS Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:22 PM Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:22 PM Hopefully HB0997 cosponsors hold the line but with slimeball Madigan at the helm, and surely a majority vote only needed for their planned piece of crap, we are short a block. Would be GREAT to have Facebook links/email addresses for all the other reps!SUMMARYwe currently have 1sponsor and 46 cosponsors for a total of 47.......we also have strong supporters who have chosen not to cosponsor only because they did not havea hand in creating the bill.we need at least 60 no votes to block any bad bill and 71 votes to pass our bill (997)so overall, we look fairly strong but should NOT take any chances on the snakestrying to sneak in a subpar carry bill.Everyone needs to pitch in with phone calls, emails, witness slips, etc.We need to win this NOW........ because for once we have more leverage than the enemy.http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/billstatus.asp?DocNum=0997&GAID=12&GA=98&DocTypeID=HB&LegID=71413&SessionID=85
DoktorPaimon Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:23 PM Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:23 PM Sent an e-mail to my rep using phrases like "equal protection" and "demonstrably racist."

CM_50BMG Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:31 PM Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:31 PM Can anyone post the link for witness slips to this shell bill so we can link to it easier. Thx
WindyCityGuy Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:37 PM Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:37 PM After your specific Representative these are the guys to pound... http://illinoiscarry.com/forum/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_id=7834
GAS3987 Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:38 PM Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:38 PM I just contacted my rep. Tuesday at noon, I'll be on my way to Texas to visit some family. Might not have time to check in so much while we are gone. I hope it goes well and everyone does their best to see this through!
Joeyl Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:41 PM Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:41 PM I'm now in Deb Mells dist. she voted no on HB148. Sent this fax. Not holding my breath, but still have to try. Rep. MellAs you know the deadline for Illinois to pass a concealed carry bill looms ahead. There will be several very bad bills introduced. These bills will not satisfy the intent of the federal court ruling. They will not provide for equality under the law. We do not have the money to keep fighting suits based on the prejudices of those that do not understand the U.S. Bill of Rights. I am asking you support ONLY the NRA approved bills. These bills will ensure that all residents of Illinois are afforded equal rights and protection under the law concerning the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. These issues are under extreme scrutiny and passage of any restrictive bill will trigger an instant legal response. Please help ensure the constitutional rights of all Illinoisans are safeguarded.Thank you. Joe XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
CGT Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:43 PM Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:43 PM We should all focus on calling. We know how well they rcognized the witness slips. Clinton

45superman Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:54 PM Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:54 PM Should we assume that Madigan will magically find that this carry bill (unlike every one proposed by our side), does not preempt home rule, and will thus not require a 3/5th supermajority in each chamber?
TyGuy Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:58 PM Posted February 23, 2013 at 05:58 PM Does calling n the weekend help or should we wait until business hours?
abolt243 Posted February 23, 2013 at 06:00 PM Posted February 23, 2013 at 06:00 PM Should we assume that Madigan will magically find that this carry bill (unlike every one proposed by our side), does not preempt home rule, and will thus not require a 3/5th supermajority in each chamber? That's a safe assumption 'cause I'm guessing that his bill will NOT have preemption language in it. We need 62-63 votes in our column so that we can have one or two absent and still hold the fort.

colt-45 Posted February 23, 2013 at 06:02 PM Posted February 23, 2013 at 06:02 PM done, my rep is really on bored with a shall issue bill and nothing less. thanks Todd for all your help and Molly and all of you that is helping in this. i applauded each and every one of you thanks. we will have a shall- issue bill!!
abolt243 Posted February 23, 2013 at 06:02 PM Posted February 23, 2013 at 06:02 PM Does calling n the weekend help or should we wait until business hours? Facebook posts should be made anytime, multiple times. Statistics show that emails sent on Sunday evening/night get the highest % of reads. Phone calls need to be done to Springfield and local offices all day Monday, all day Tues and until this threat to our rights is over. And not just your own rep.
mauserme Posted February 23, 2013 at 06:18 PM Posted February 23, 2013 at 06:18 PM Hey folks, do we have a list of links for facebook pages for all 118 state reps? Give me a few minutes to work on that.
KarlJ Posted February 23, 2013 at 06:25 PM Posted February 23, 2013 at 06:25 PM I got a new Rep. in the recent redistricting. Ive tried to contact him on related issues many times since the switch. His local office voicemail is allways full and unable to take messages. His springfield office takes my message and request for a return call and Ive never heard back. He has a FB page but you cant write on his wall unless your a "friend". Ive sent him a message through facebook cause I cant find any other email contact for my new Rep. If Im free monday, Ill drop by his office in Calumet City.
THE KING Posted February 23, 2013 at 06:28 PM Posted February 23, 2013 at 06:28 PM I just sent out an E-Mail to all of my contacts giving them an update on what has been taking place over this last week with all of the hearings, meetings and legislation. Some of my contacts or I should say most of them DO NOT follow our cause as I do. So by me giving them this update and asking each and everyone of them to also contact their reps, it might just be enough for them to make a phone call or two to help us out. I also did this in the beginning of Janurary during the fiasco of the lame duck session with the proposed semi-auto ban. And I actually had friends that normally don't follow this issue tell me that they contacted their reps and senators voicing their opinion. Some times, it takes that little extra effort on our part to update and educate our friends on what the anti-gun politicians are trying to do. Hopefully this is enough to motivate our friends to step up and help out. KING
WindyCityGuy Posted February 23, 2013 at 06:40 PM Posted February 23, 2013 at 06:40 PM I have been using Mauserme's Excel spreadsheet to follow the Representatives and if they supported 148 and 997. That way I can email supporting reps with thanks and a request to keep up with the fight, reach out to the ones who haven't shown a position yet, and know the ones who are strong antis. Hopefully this may be of help for other people. It's all publicly available info so hopefully I am not giving away anything to the bad guys. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0ByPgVksff4GrSjI1akJTRFZ3R2M/edit?usp=sharing
Ritte Posted February 23, 2013 at 06:44 PM Posted February 23, 2013 at 06:44 PM Representative Martwick charges a 1.00 fee to contact him on facebook if you are not already connected to him
Bhawk99 Posted February 23, 2013 at 06:47 PM Posted February 23, 2013 at 06:47 PM Thanks Todd for the update. Just got off the phone with my Rep's secretary. She and my Rep now know me by name after my numerous contacts. She says he will call me on Monday. I will remind him again about what bills are good and which ones are BS.
