That sounds like an email from my 8 year-old niece.

Yes. I'm predicting that Chicago/Cook county will be sold out in order to get "shall issue".

I've countless times relayed how unsupportive he's been, and how he outright ignores his constituents, and his office is basically hostile.
But I.C. and NRA leadership insisted Ford was just itching to vote for us, and looking for an excuse to come to our side, and blah blah blah.
Folks, You Got Played. Own it.

You realize that rifles were never going to be covered by the carry bill, right?

If you have a better plan/idea than the one in place stop saying I wish and start saying I will change Illinois laws.

Let me expand on that...
Time and again, I.C. leadership talk out of both sides of their mouths. On one hand it's exactly what you just spouted: "if you have a better idea, do it." But the moment anybody here even suggests doing something else, it's "Don't do that. It's hurting our cause. Do what we say, listen to us, we have been doing this the longest and know best."
And with each failure we hear a new reason about how or why it's actually a "success" in disguise. It's getting tired.
Ford's office played certain people like a fiddle. He stalled and bought time, and got certain people here to shelve their plans and turn down the heat for a while.
I'm suggesting that for once in the history of this forum, somebody refrain from making an excuse, and own their failure. Admit their defeat in this battle. Learn from it, and carry on to win the greater war.

I will say, though, that some folks are working hard (actually working, not merely posting messages on internet chat forums) and making good-faith efforts to advance concealed carry in Illinois. And that other folks ... well, other folks are pretty good at whining about the situation (whatever it may be).
mstrat ... if you have a beef with someone or some people, you need to take it to them. It sounds like your complaints are directed to particular folks, so you don't need to air them on the open forum. That just ain't a mature approach.

To echo GF's sentiment if you have a beef with the people calling the shots take it to them.

Rep. Ford asked for certain things, towh hall meetings, the task force. We complied with his requests. We have been working on the task force report as we have a lot of edits to the draft.
It will be done befre the veto session and When I go to springfield next week I will take the temprature on a number of things and have a little fsace time with Rep. Ford.

The fact that 54 percent (if it is indeed a fact) of Chicago residents and a significant majority of those in suburban Cook support CCW means that the public is on our side. Those numbers would have been unheard of only a few years ago. Things are looking up, and compromising is the worst thing you could do right now.

Even if it came out yesterday, it holds no water or weight since it's not legally binding.
It's a classic stall. They know that the last thing they want to do is bring this up during campaign season.

Pitting rifle owners against handgun owners? And our side buying it as a "compromise?" Is it possible?
Sure. Depending on who has the bigger bucks.
