I heard a commercial on the radio about a free handgun class being put on 8A M- 4 PM on saturday in Williamson County.  I took it with my wife last year, to get her a little basic training.   It is very basic,  good for someone who hasn't shot a handgun before.  A person doesn't need a FOID card for this as it is  training.   However you need to bring a handgun and someone without a FOID card would have to have someone transport it for them.  I did this for a couple last year.   The number to call is 618-997-6541 then enter the dispatch extension.  Deputy Fleming is in charge of it.  Last year the first time the advertized it they didn't get enough people for a class, but they did the second time.  I imagine if they don't have enough people by friday they may do it later.  This was not a large class maybe 8 or 10.

BTW, I don't know how I hit the poll question button but I couldn't do my post without putting down a question so I did.

Remember the 1991 Luby Cafeteria Massacre of the Unarmed (Kileen, Texas before Texas Concealed Carry) Do we need 23 people to die in a similar incident before we're allowed effective self defense?

Three school masacres have been stopped by civilians with firearms. Two with handguns and the third by a guy with a shotgun. (Pearl, Ms; Appalacian School of Law; Edinboro,Pa)

I took it with my wife a few years back,.  They do a good job.  I DO NOT like how they do the gun cleaning portion; guns are sweeping everyone all over the room!  A friend of mine took this class last Saturday.  I am pretty sure the range portion was like being in a giant wok in that 106 F heat and no shade!
