The army and corp have had problems with slide fatigue and cracks.
That said, i had both in the military, and John Browning was right. I own a Sig and an XD. I own 6 1911's and adding more.
If 10 rounds of 185 -230 gr 45ACP won't do the job as a civilian you got bigger problems.
Like i said browing got it right

While a 9 mm or .40 caliber bullet may or may not expand, it is an undeniable fact that a .45 caliber bullet will never shrink.
