Yep, they are just cherry picking weeks that make them look good, as soon as a whole month is higher then the same month the year before, they have to stop the 'perception' nonsense.

They need to call in some advertising folks.  Whoever came up with the idea to plaster "Fat Free", "No Cholestrol", and "No Trans-Fats"  on bags of hard candy should help Chicago out.

Maybe the could have a giant billboard that says  .989 Days - with NO violent crime !

The billboard gambit would be a nice response. The Machine had declared war on gun owners. This would be a good way to return their venom.
We saw how ISP recoiled when their "tactical tongue depressor" was brought into the daylight.

Lets throw together a fund, rent a billboard for about a month and slam them with their own statistics.

Yes. I'm predicting that Chicago/Cook county will be sold out in order to get "shall issue".

The bill board should be in Indiana.

Are you really sure you want to enter the ONLY state in the nation that forbids any sort of protection for your family?

ONLY ----- MURDERS SO FAR THIS MONTH.

ONLY------- SHOT SO FAR THIS MONTH

And that is only in Chicago.

I too refuse to go there anymore.  The last time I went, which was in protest, was to visit my sister which is also near Wrigley.  We went to lunch and I paid way too much to park on the street for an hour.  After our meal I was greeted with a nice orange envelope on my windshield.  It was a $50 ticket for no front license plate.  The thing that irked me the most was that it wasn't a cop that gave it.  It was the Department of Revenue.  Anything for a buck from those bastards.

Illinois State Law requires a plate on the front of your vehicle.  I do not have a front plate on my vehicle either but I don't think I have the right to complain about it when I get a ticket.

And why would it irk you that they have meter maids writing tickets instead of cops?  Personally, I'd rather see cops chasing criminals than performing menial tasks like this.

I can't drive into the city for the same reason.  My car has had no front plate for more than 10 years.  I've never had a problem from any police officer, even after being stopped for speeding.  But in Chicago, they use bogus tickets like this as a pure money-generation scam.

It wouldn't irk me if he were writing a parking ticket.  No front license plate has nothing to do with parking illegally.
Quite frankly the state should do away with the front plate.  It would be half the materials needed to purchase.  Maybe they keep them to give our former governors something to do all day.

They use the front plate to aim their laser at to check your speed with certain guns when you are coming at them.  They also may want to run the plates of a vehicle that is backed up against a wall.  Off topic but I think front plates are reasonable.

Already have.  Its called the NRA.  Have they put a few billboards up around Chicago yet?
The statistics speak for themselves and should anger people quite easily.  But they need them in their faces.  Otherwise its just another stranger getting stabbed or shot.   Im sure theyve tuned out the news more than most people.

I'd have to agree with the idea that it's all about the money.  Think of all the red light cameras in Illinois, especially Chicago and their soon to come speed cameras.  Then there's the use by the state in construction zones and on the toll roads.

If they lost that revenue the state and Chicago would be even more broke than they already are...if that's possible.

I think half of a debate is won or lost in how the whole thing ends up getting framed and what terminology is used.

I'm not trying to derail this thread - but we see that in the abortion debate, one side wants to be called pro-choice not anti-abortion the other side wants to be called pro-choice not pro-abortion.  The same is true with the question of immigration, pension reform, health care reform - you name it.

I think supporters of the Second Amendment have already stepped into the opposition's arena and conceded the terminology to them when we acquiesce to the use of terms like "gun violence" and pander to their shooting counts.

What about violence in general?  Being beat to death with a pipe is somehow better in Rahm Emanuel’s eyes than being shot?

What about the stabbings and the people killed in knife fights.  What about the rapes committed without the use of a gun?

I wish we would actively challenge the media and the anti-gunners on this issue when they start to single out so-called gun violence.

Funny, the last time I was in Springfield, I noticed that ILGA license plates have no identifying info on the front plate, only on the rear plate.
