TyGuy Posted May 31, 2012 at 02:57 PM Posted May 31, 2012 at 02:57 PM I heard about Bloomberg's proposed ban on high-capacity drinks (to follow the model of his ban on high capacity magazines) in New York City, and it reminded of something...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puM1eT15NYw(has the S-word in it) The proper response:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JizGkM6gbvQ News Article:http://www.npr.org/b...ban-on-big-ones
Xwing Posted June 1, 2012 at 03:56 PM Posted June 1, 2012 at 03:56 PM High capacity cups???Yep. Any over 16 oz. So a "Medium" drink (20 oz) will be banned, let alone Large and Extra-Large. Only "small" will be allowed. Bloomburg continues his "Ban everything I don't like" campaign. I really don't understand how anyone can vote for someone who keeps restricting their rights. If you don't want a large soda, don't order one! But why should you tell me what I can and cannot order. It is just one more example of why our country is currently destroying itself.
RECarry Posted June 1, 2012 at 04:09 PM Posted June 1, 2012 at 04:09 PM Government meddling always assumes that everyone has the same capacity to adapt, and that unintended consequences never occur. For example, banning tinted car windows or pull down shades would effectively make my mom a shut-in. You can get window tint plates from the State of Illinois with a doctor's signature only if the person has one of two allowable, chronic conditions (she does). If the state subsequently decides to ban all window tint because too many people are abusing window tine, then what? The same could apply to this drink size restriction mentality, for people who may need to consume large amounts of fluid with medication, after a medical trreatment, or for some metabolic reason. Before long, we'll all need doctor's notes to use the bathroom, once some nannies claim that bodily fluids put undue strain on the sewage treatment plants, contain traces of controlled substances that affect the water supply our children drink, harm the endangered rat species in the sewers, and on it goes.
Drylok Posted June 1, 2012 at 04:54 PM Posted June 1, 2012 at 04:54 PM Is SCOTUS every going to address these issues?
05FLHT Posted June 1, 2012 at 11:40 PM Posted June 1, 2012 at 11:40 PM lol. The family and I just had some 32oz hi-cap milkshakes at Scooby's. They were on special today for $1.99.
snubjob Posted June 2, 2012 at 12:17 PM Posted June 2, 2012 at 12:17 PM A wise man once said that " You can't govern stupidity". He never met Bloomer.
TyGuy Posted June 2, 2012 at 01:08 PM Author Posted June 2, 2012 at 01:08 PM You can, however, govern stupidly.
Xwing Posted June 2, 2012 at 05:44 PM Posted June 2, 2012 at 05:44 PM You can, however, govern stupidly. Yes. As Obama, Quinn, Boomberg, and others continue to show us. They keep raising the bar on "stupid". Just when you think it can't get worse, they pass even more restrictive laws.
Helpdesk9 Posted June 3, 2012 at 03:23 PM Posted June 3, 2012 at 03:23 PM lol. The family and I just had some 32oz hi-cap milkshakes at Scooby's. They were on special today for $1.99. You should've bought a bunch to stockpile, then when they are made illegal, you can sell them for 10 times the original price! Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk 2
mstrat Posted June 4, 2012 at 03:07 PM Posted June 4, 2012 at 03:07 PM This is the age-old, fallacious, big government argument:If it's good to do, it's good for government to do.
BigJim Posted June 4, 2012 at 03:22 PM Posted June 4, 2012 at 03:22 PM I wonder if this law will also prevent you from buying more then one drink within a certain time period.
