This is just irritating because this could have been called last week or before even if we did not have the votes we could have seen who voted no. Also while I was originally opposed to 24 hours of training it is looking pretty good right now.

Wish it was possible for me to go. I've got parents here that i just can't abandon and taking them along isn't even an option. Kinda fond of the grandkids too.  I wish you luck with your plan.

We were told that there were legislators awaiting the release of the Ford task force report.  Had it come out sooner, they could have been crucial yes votes, assuming a favorable result.  With the draft report only out yesterday, Madigan had time to stall.

I agree, same as last year. All the hype that "this is the year" "'we got the votes" and what happened last year? The "state" of Illinois is not and will not get the Right to carry and defend themselves until a provision is made that Chicago can opt out. It's time, it's way overdue. People are going to give up and suspend any donations of their hard earned money to fund any organization  that insist on including the very place that has controlled the good people of Illinois from their Rights. It's time, it's way overdue, let Chicago go. They can catch up when they get fed up enough to vote with a brain and not with their hand out. I hope I'm wrong but if I am not...does it matter really what we who live outside of Crook County want? Doesn't seem so.

Do you really think that would help? in any case, the NRA has publicly vowed to actively oppose any such bill.

I am sure glad I bet Bud one of his new AR15 receivers that this bill wouldn't make it through the legislature this year.

How does Madigan hold so much power?  He reminds me of Al Capone who controlled the mayor and every other Chicago politician during his day.  Does he make threats to reps that if they don't vote his way they will not have anymore career in lawmakling,

I vote for Bost not only for Speaker of the House, but for U.S. President.! :headbang1:

And that's exactly the reason the NRA isn't getting one more penny from me. And this attitude is catching on around me too. People [downstate people at least] are sick to death of the nra's approach to this.  It's as if they look chicago as some kind of "holy grail", and to hell with what downstate wants. And before i hear about throwing people under a bus, let's not forget that a few on this forum were beating this same drum just 3 short years ago. What has changed?  It is the opinion of many that even if a carry vote were successful, that the machine would tie it up for eons in red tape, challenges, bogus restrictions, etc. So let's go on without cook county.  It's been said also that even if cook were omitted, it still wouldn'pass. I say give it a try. It sure as hell ain't passin any other way.  It's going to take years to get "usable" concealed carry in cook county either way. Let the rest of the state go on without em.  And as far as the court cases go, don't get your hopes up folks.  The courts will probably eventually render some sort of decision that will HELP us with our goal. They aren't going to just outright force the ILGA to give us concealed carry.

A rep in the cook county area that doesn't kiss madigan's a** doesn't have a very long career. I'm sure there are many that can attest to this.

You're correct. And when the nra finally realizes that they are losing fundind from those downstaters that aren't getting any representation for their money, they MIGHT get the point.

As a former drum beater myself, I feel particularly well qualified to remind you that McDonald v Chicago and Ezell v Chicago were decided during those 3 short years.  There are other changes as well, and there will be more.

I think it will be made public now.  Keep an eye out for a copy posted in a new thread.

At some point today the Senate concurred with House Amendments 2 and 4 on SB1034.  This bill will now be sent to the governor.

Concealed carry will be the law of the land in Illinois this year.

Wouldn't dare question your qualifications sir. And while i'm at it i'd like to thank you for the time that you put in keeping an eye on the freak show that is known as the illinois general assembly. I do however fail to see how the decisions that brought chicago gun owners out of the dark ages benefitted any of the gun owners that don't live in cook county or chicago. Those were just minor setbacks to the chicago machine as can be seen by all the bs restrictions and fees, etc. that were enacted immediately. And when this issue finally reaches the scotus, these cases will have no bearing on their decision. Unless the structure of the scotus has been changed. Which is very possible, if not likely.

I'm going to take a break for a while but will try to jump back in later if needed.

However this ends today, I want to acknowledge Todd's work in giving us what, by any standard, has been a very successful Spring.  There is dissapointment to be sure, but we've sent a number of good bills to the governor's desk, stopped at least one bad bill, and found common ground on a third making it a win for all concerned.

Also, appologies to TomKoz and Uncle Harley.  Not that you need my permision but you know you're always welcome to participate in the ILGA threads.  I'm sure you understand that I needed to keep these last few days more focused than normal.

Back later...

Hey brother, no problem   I apreciate what you do!  I apologise to you,  I was just frustrated  we were scrambling with a bad bill just trying to sqeek it through last min.   I felt it made us look desperate when  we shouldn't have let ourselves get into this position in the first place.   We need to gut the  ILGA and start over with all of them!

you guys are killing me. The only reason there wasn't a vote is because Madigan blocked it from coming out of committe and he is completely entitled to do  so per il constitution that was written by the legislators who were elected in chicago. You have nobody to blame but your fellow chicago residents. So I don't want to hear anymore **** about someone throwing someone else under the bus. ITS ALL YOUR FAULT So get the hell out of chicago and leave a cow with a lantern behind.

Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks"
