"The Amendment to SB1034 is currently in the House and has not yet been considered by the Senate. It is my understanding that the bill would bring the State of Illinois into compliance with State and federal law and secure Illinois' eligibility for the federal NICS Act Record Improvement Program (NARIP) Grant. That is the main purpose of the legislation. If and when the bill does make it to the Senate, I will be sure to take your thoughts under advisement. I will also look for a more detailed analysis if and when the bill passes the House."

The ISP SUPPORTS the bill! They stand to make $1.2 million from the bill. Look at the majority of sponsors of the bill. Jakobsson, Cassidy, Soto, Arroyo. Not exactly a who's who of 2A supporters. I think your rep is saying that the NRA and the ISP don't agree on the bill as in they are on different sides.

They really dont like the fact sheet and I got a testy/nasty email about our opposition.
I dont think i will be getting foid apps processed for a while. And they are now threatening that they wont help legislators with foid issues if they vote against the bill.
They continue to beat the drum about the feds shutting down NICS and stopping retail sales.

I can't believe that Rep. Jim Sacia is in on this bill!! Just what exactly is a Alternate Chief Co-Sponsor? He was added as such on 5/17 which was after House Committee Amendment No. 2 was added.

They plan to willfully violate the law giving them 30 days to process FOID applications?
What else could that kind of threat mean?

So they won't do the job they were hired to do in the first place and will just do a poorer job if they don't get their way. Just read Mauser's post, well put.
I hope the fed DO shut down NICS for IL. It will be because of the negligence of the ISP to address issues that were pointed out to them THREE YEARS ago! They've known about the shortcomings of the FOID and the reporting of DV cases for THREE YEARS and they now try to run a bill through during the last 9 days of session. Does that sound a little strange to anyone else? And it doesn't just address the shortcomings that the FBI pointed out, it's got all these other "feel good" points to help get it passed. If it truly addressed the issues the FBI required, it wouldn't need all that window dressing to hide the bad stuff.
Perhaps shutting down gun sales in the state will wake up the gun owners that say "they aren't coming after my *******shooter so who cares?" And it will point out the negligence of the ISP to follow the letter of the FOID laws regarding reporting of certain crimes.

You can referance that the state police are running around springfield telling legislators that if they dont pass a gun control bill, they will shut down background checks which will stop all retail sales.
Maybe even a call into Rep. Issa's office would be in order

Todd Vandermyde is now telling me that the State Police are threatening to shut down all retail sales of firearms if this bill doesn’t get passed. They have further stated to Vandermyde that they will no longer assist any legislator that helps to defeat this Bill when they as for State Police FOID processing assistance.
Please explain to me how our legislature has completely lost control of State agencies. Senator Hatcher I know for a fact that the Director of the IDNR has blown you off on several occasions and now the State Police are going to retaliate against any Legislator who represents the voters in their District.
If one of you would like to become an instant hero to the 1.1 million firearm owners in Illinois, please start the process to introduce a Bill to abolish the FOID system in Illinois. If forty-nine other States don’t need it, why are the citizens of Illinois continuously subjected to repressive violations of our 2nd Amendment rights?
Please do not support one single bill coming from the political lackeys of the Chicago Machine. Please become vocal and start fighting back for us, we will support you both if you do.

Already got the bill in the system, SB3340 introduced by Senator McCann.

Represzentative Proitchard (current Rep) responds:
Bud the answer to your question about why Illinois is different is Chicago and Mike Madigan. He controls the process and would stop any bill like your suggestion. We need to concentrate efforts on getting a majority for a new speaker in January.
