Yesterday when I tuned in to the house they were debating sb 1313 so I went to look at the bill and thought I had the gist of it. It was a bill to cut spending by reducing the bloated benifits to state employees. There was some good debate and comments from the likes of Rep Bost and others and then I notice the bill was introduced by Madigan, so I thought hmmm well maybe he's just finally come to grips that we have to do this. Then the vote comes down and I go to the roll call and see that Rose and Phelps voted NO. Suspecting that there must be more than meets the eye with this bill I call Rose and sure enough, the bill is a farce, it doesn't specify what and how much and when or anything else and basically leaves all that to the descretion of the governor.
This happens all to often, it would be nice if just once there could be a meaningful, legitimate bill regarding our budget and or our rights that spells it out in plain English and we had a straight up or down vote. But no there always has to be a catch, a hitch, a devil in the details or the plain lack of details. I had to call UAB last night and vent on this and I still woke up pissed this morning!
On a positive note, it is nice to have a rep that actually returns your calls and doesn't talk to you through their nose.

A government big enough to give you everything you need is big enough to take it all away. They have been over promising for decades and madigan is like an arsonist who also serves on the fire department. He sets a house on fire and then runs in and puts it out to try and make him look like a hero when he's the one that started it in the first place!
My wife is a state employee too and we say slash away and burn the teachers union to the ground!

Very well said.

My best wishes for any of ya'll who will be affected by the actions and decisions of a crook who sports the title of Governor. The fellow and many of his cohorts need a 25 year long tour of the Thomson Correctional Center (all while being confined to a single cell).

WHen I saw the title of this thread I thought it was a joke.

The last time there was honesty in Springfield was probably at the PCCC during IGOLD.

I think this is quite amusing. The company I work for employes union and non-union people. It is hysterical to me that the labor unions push their members to vote democrat and are now pissed off about what the democrats are doing. I had a friend that was a union member and they "highly" encouraged their participation in democratic political events...... so much so in fact, that in 2008, the union was handing out free Obama t-shirts and bus rides to support Obama during his campaign. I also had a good source inform me that the Illinois unions were bussing members up to Madison Wisconsin during the massive protests last year against Gov. Walker.

YEAAAA......GO DEMOCRATS!
