wilessiuc Posted May 9, 2012 at 11:09 PM Posted May 9, 2012 at 11:09 PM WOW! Getting closer! I could be wrong, but I thought Phelps said we were 2 votes away a couple of months ago??
Buzzard Posted May 9, 2012 at 11:11 PM Posted May 9, 2012 at 11:11 PM I just had an idea . . . Do you think we could get someone to put together a task force that could examine the possible effects of passing a concealed carry law in Illinois . . . . and then issue a report on it?
colt-45 Posted May 9, 2012 at 11:30 PM Posted May 9, 2012 at 11:30 PM is ford one of those votes we need or did they already count him in? PM me if you need to.
chicago Posted May 9, 2012 at 11:41 PM Posted May 9, 2012 at 11:41 PM I just had an idea . . . Do you think we could get someone to put together a task force that could examine the possible effects of passing a concealed carry law in Illinois . . . . and then issue a report on it? First it was after the beginning of the year. Then it was after the primary. Then it was after they get back from vacation. Now it's after Christmas.Then... Novel Idea though!

That is a brilliant idea! We should have done that a few months ago.
FarmHand357 Posted May 10, 2012 at 02:03 AM Posted May 10, 2012 at 02:03 AM Just curious, does it tip our hand at all to put out this kind of story ahead of time? Lacking understanding of the process, I thought that since Rep. Phelps had effectively tabled HB 148, it could be brought back out for a vote at any time. Wondering if this provides an opportunity for Madigan/Quinn/Emanuel to do some last-minute arm twisting like the last time... Or does it not matter because the cat is pretty much already out of the bag...

Jim Smyth Posted May 10, 2012 at 01:19 PM Posted May 10, 2012 at 01:19 PM Looking at this from a pro gun stand point. Is there any way with freedom of information act that we could get the names, or addresses of the FOID members in the districts of the "NO" voters wirth regards of CCW? That would help sway the vote to make it veto proof and tell Quinn to stick it.

I don't want anyone to be able to FOIA my information.
colt-45 Posted May 10, 2012 at 01:35 PM Posted May 10, 2012 at 01:35 PM nope cause it's privet information on the FOID card. no one but LEO'S can have that.
C0untZer0 Posted May 10, 2012 at 02:17 PM Posted May 10, 2012 at 02:17 PM This is HB 5745 we're talking about right?

KingWalleye Posted May 10, 2012 at 02:36 PM Posted May 10, 2012 at 02:36 PM Is this two votes to get us to 71?Or is it two more to give us enough cushion to insure it can survive the veto session?

Wondering if this provides an opportunity for Madigan/Quinn/Emanuel to do some last-minute arm twisting like the last time... Or does it not matter because the cat is pretty much already out of the bag... Maybe, maybe not. Last year they worked extra hard to keep numbers under wraps and it appeared to turn out the same, the Machine still managed to track down those that they could put pressure on and did so. I think with it being so close, perhaps it could encourage supporters who might otherwise not vote yes knowing that it's so close to passing. It's all a crap shoot anyway - lol

Drylok Posted May 10, 2012 at 03:24 PM Posted May 10, 2012 at 03:24 PM We were at 68 last may, then Ford did his task force thing, that's 69 and there were 3 Rs who voted no, so if we pick up Ford and convert the 3 Rs that's 71. And some times when a bill gets to the majical 71 all of the sudden unexpected reps pile on. Who knows how accurate any of that may be and it's just speculation but it's something to hope for. As to which bill, personally I don't care what bill it is let's just do this thing!

KingWalleye Posted May 10, 2012 at 03:27 PM Posted May 10, 2012 at 03:27 PM Sorry I am at work and my phone doesn't have the correct flash program to watch it.
C0untZer0 Posted May 10, 2012 at 03:38 PM Posted May 10, 2012 at 03:38 PM If we're that close shouldn't we all be calling our representatives? I don't know the exact bill being referred to but both 148 and 5745 create the Family and Personal Protection Act. Or do we wait until it actually comes to the floor?
Drylok Posted May 10, 2012 at 04:09 PM Posted May 10, 2012 at 04:09 PM Not all of us, frankly I'm done calling Rose and Righter never needed to in the first place. But the folks up there in and around chicago need to be melting their reps phone lines even if the calls do fall on deaf ears!

Its pretty much like whipping a dead horse dealing with her!! Tell her the things that will happen if the court cases go our way. No permit needed to carry, open and concealed, long arm carry, no special training, no additional background checks.
