Well since the task force due date got pushed back until 31 Dec, where does that lead? By next session the argument will be, "That task force was last year. Things have changed by now."
This is assuming that Bud's optimist is misguided. I hope it isn't.

Has the task force been officially pushed back to Dec 31st or is it still unclear?

I am not sure the deadline has been extended.  There was talk about  extending it because they knew they wouldn't be able to meet the May 1, 2012 deadline.  Both sides are now compiling the report.  If what I hear is correct, it is hoped the report will be ready sometime around May 15, 2012 . . .

If CC passes in Illinois it's going to cost me a lot of money

First of all I'm going to have to purchase that Rohrbaugh R9 - that's going to run me around $1,200
Then I'm going to need a holster, that's another hundred bucks or so
I'm also going to have to purchase different brands of ammo, the Rohrbaughs can be picky about what ammo they like
Then there is the range time, practicing with the R9 and finding which ammo it likes best

it's all kind of overwhelming when I think of what I'll have to go through

I also have a couple of items I'd be purchasing as well.  (I've got my eye on a gun at Cabellas.)  Plus of course the fee for the training and the fee for the license.  Think about the economic renewal this could bring Illinois.  If the passed CCW, there would be more money (from fees + from taxes) coming into the government coffers.  They should pass it on that alone; with the current fiscal state of Illinois, they need all the help they can get.

There might some new impetus with the 7th Circuit declining to give Ms. Madigan more than a one extension to prepare her argument.  The two cases will be heard this session and we coul dhave a ruling (from the same judges that gave us Ezell) as early as August.

Mayhaps the threat of court-ordered Constitutional Carry (where any non-prohibited person can legally carry and the state gets bupkis $) might sway some fence sitters....

I'm going to wait until whatever happens, happens before I start shopping lists.

Yes. I'm predicting that Chicago/Cook county will be sold out in order to get "shall issue".

I write my reps every time an issue comes up; and also mention RTC in those letters. I live in Cook, suffice it to say I believe it falls on deaf ears. However I'd rather yell at the wall than stand for the nonsense.

The only upside to my location is my own cities laws. My town is gun friendly enough that people can be persuaded into it; or just leave you alone. Perhaps I will see if I can talk to some more neighbors and see if I can get them to write as well.

Forgive my ignorance; but it seems like we are making another "push"? Will this be coming up again soon, or are we just speculating?

Interesting that the publication is from the University of Illinois.  Did anyone notice that?  This is down rigt 'fair and balanced'

YES! That is ONE of the reasons i posted this article.I had to look up and make sure what newspaper i was reading.I never dreamed of a 'U of I publication' reporting the status of a CC bill, let alone doing it with a 'fair and balanced' print
