For better or worse, on Friday, April 13th, 2012, we had our regular Excel Training Group ladies' night at Article II Gun World Range in Lombard. We call it "It's Her Night" and it's a sort of an open shooting evening combined with a socializing aspect. This was our third in the series at this location.

Previously, a producer from CBS-2 Chicago News had contacted us to make arrangements to video a Women's Introduction to Handguns Class, with an eye (pun intended) towards getting a feature piece on women buying guns, specifically handguns.

Dates and camera times came together on the 13th and a crew came out along with anchor Mai Martinez.

They spent about three hours there with us, culminating with Martinez herself getting some basic pistol instruction and then shooting a bit with our Buckmark.

Partner TD Roe also got a couple of star turns, including literally, running a couple of "Prez" excersises for the camera (nicely)... this is in the teaser the Channel 2 has been running since Friday the 27th. TD was also interviewed for more than ten minutes by Martinez, as were two or three of our Intro "graduates" and other regular shooters.

The piece is set to air tonight on the 10 o'clock news on Channel 2, WBBM-TV here in the Chicago area.

It's always hard to predict what will happen with such things, but the tone when they were with us seemed positive. We're hoping it portrays women shooters, particularly newer ones, in a realistic way.

You might care to tune in to see.

I believe it will be on the TV station's website thereafter and if so, I will provide a link.

Thanks. I managed to see it. I put up a first comment on CBS web story complimenting them for a positive story regarding guns.
