Bud Posted April 17, 2012 at 08:54 PM Posted April 17, 2012 at 08:54 PM Like I have mentioned several times, I am old. As an example, I have been carrying/owning/firing various versions of the AR-15 since January b1966 when I arrived in Vietnam. I trained on the M14 at basic in the summer of 1965, but grabbed an M16 as soon as I could in VN. Now, decades later, i still own them and now I have decided to start building at least one and from the inheritance gleam in my son's eye, I would suspect I will be encouraged to do more than one. For those of you who have not been in the service or just want to add to your AR15/M$gery knowledge, one of the guys on www.702shooter.com has done a primer on the AR15 which I think is pretty good. So, here's the link because he copyrighted it: An AR-15 Primer I edited this because I made a mistake and thought it came from Arfcom. It didn't, it was 702shooter which I frequent because of the good articles, good ads and great giveaways. And I have no financial incentive or relationship with them)
JR1987 Posted April 17, 2012 at 09:54 PM Posted April 17, 2012 at 09:54 PM Really good article. I like the section about twist rates and how versatile the platform is. It also points the important parts of every weapon: the barrel and bolt. Great info. I wish I had it when I built my lowers. I was on 4 or more different sites to read on what makes a good AR. Good find.
