Perhaps we can get a small project off the ground in Cook and Dtown Chicago.

Simple, hand out fliers to all the mass transit people...there are hundreds of thousands of people to reach as they walk over the bridges on the way to the trains.  Stand out side metra stations or El and hit people as they go home,  Half page flier we can draw up.  Maybe with a picture or two with some town hall quotes from Molly, Radie, etc and the 49 states can't be wrong.

How many people do we have that either work downtown or would be able to make it one day.  Perhaps before they call the CC bill so we can garner more support from uneducated citizens on the issue (especially those in cook and collar counties).   People who want to help by getting materials printed up etc.

Just tossing it out there.

Good idea but the down side is those that don't care about the info will just toss the flyers on the sidewalk.  Bad part about that is some twisted newsperson will jump all over how we "littered" the city with flyers trying to inform the masses.  Just my opinion.

I see stuff passed out all the time and I do not see a litter problem....people will want to litter our stuff more than others?

"some twisted newsperson will jump all over how we "littered" the city with flyers trying to inform the masses."   will that make the news?

There is a potential down side to everything......what is your upside?

I live in orland, but work downtown right off Michigan.  I would be happy to hand out anything for you.  I might add they had young kids handing out Madigan rhetoric before the election to everyone on Michigan.  It was a complete joke!

Litter?

Give them something that they want to read.

Better yet, don't give it to them, allow them to take it from you.

At the Black Women's Expo one year,
one of our volunteers, Crystal and I stood near the entrance and handed out pamphlets and flyers,
and I found that if the cover of the pamphlet sends a clear message from 10ft away,
people will come up and take a pamphlet that you are offering.

Also we found that even if you are pushing them on people,
if there's a clear opening to what you are trying to say,
people hold on to your flyer.

When we went back to our booth later on,
I was pleasantly surprised to not see our flyers littered on the floor.
I did see one or two left on a table in the food court.

You might get more of an emotional response (in our favor) with:

" Why can't my mommy protect me? "

first thing I did when I got home from IGOLD was buy her book.   Only took 2 evenings to read and a comfortable pace.   Real Easy read and I've already passed it onto friends.  Once it makes the gauntlet of people I know  I will probably donate it to our local library.

Great idea. There's a lot of people that don't know about the issue.

I think it's a good idea. Keep in mind, if you are going after people near the train station, those are suburbanites. Frankly I think a lot of the 2A opposition comes from the burbs. The city folks have seen 1st hand that the 25 year handgun ban didn't work, and are more likely to be pro 2A. Now whether their elected officials recognize that is a different story.

Typically the clientele that use the Metra lines are from the suburbs.....if you want to focus primarily on Chicago residents choose areas around the "el" stations.....no reason you can't hit both.....

But can you just imagine the squawking that the antis will do about how we use our kids as props to help with our nefarious bidding? Oh my.  Apparently that's only ok if you're them.

I too, live in the city, and would gladly distribute pamphlets.

Yes the folks have had 25 years of gun ban BUT they have had FIFTY years of the Daley brainwashing that all guns are bad.

Richard J Daley had one of the most expensive gun collections in the midwest stashed at his Michigan estate. I got that from some VERY reliable sources. You will never hear about that on radio or any other media in Chicagoland.

Wait wait wait...

Are you telling me the media doesn't have the public's best interest in mind?!
