I have a friend who just moved to lemont and she is looking to buy an AR15.

I am unsure of the laws in this part of Illinois, I have only ever lived in Will County.

Lemont is confusing to because it is in Will, Dupage and Cook.

Can she own an AR15? Or what specifically are lemonts laws. the ISP website does not list lemont.

If no ordinances are listed for Lemont and if she doesn't live in Cook then she can buy whatever the heck she wants sans NFA stuff.

She lives in the Cook part of Lemont. So I assume there are some horrible laws right?

Yeah they got some lame weapons ban. Typical scary features and 10+ capacity BS.

Does this include handguns as well?

I'm going to hate to tell her than she can't get an AR15

Don't know if Lemont may be a Home Rule town - that might save her. Othwise, no ARs in Cook - no hand guns or long guns with mags over 10 rounds, etc.

"The Village of Lemont is a non-home rule municipality located in Cook, Will and DuPage. Counties."

Maybe she'll just have to get some tongue depressors...

I know - the whole county is very, "Depressing". (Had to say it...)

Having said all that, there are those on this board that will tell you that no one has ever been convicted under the Cook ban.
