ABC Chicago covered that there seems to be a issue getting FOID cards processed in a timely manner.

"As five-year FOID cards expired and ten-year cards became the standard-state police were overwhelmed by paperwork, unable to meet the 30-day deadline for processing card applications."

I was curious what the expiration date has to do with anything...

My wife got her card today; first time she has applied.

Mailed app on Sat., March 30th.
Check deposited on Th. April 4
Gor card May 17th.

Six weeks total. No calling, emailing, or intervention at all. I wanted to see how long it would take without any follow up.

We just sent an app out for my wife.
Original HB997 or FOID carry.  No more compromise.

Sent in for mine after wallet was stolen.  Received by foid office 4-12 at 9:52 am, spoke with Judy this past Monday and it was in background check.  We shall see how quickly it arrives....  I would think BG check would fly through since I had a current active FOID and my understanding is they run re-run FOIDS every night anyway.

That's amazing given the times being reported.

Close family member...

1st time FOID -- Mailed April 10, Check cashed April 15, FOID received May 18

No intervention by the family member, since the 30 days had just elapsed...

New Illinois resident and new member here.  Sent off FOID app on 4-15, watching for checks to clear bank and starting the countdown clock.  Thanks to all who have been through this process before for providing the info you have provided, but here's to hoping I don't need it.
Checks for my wife and I cleared on 4-18.  A lot quicker thank I thought they would.  The wait begins.....
My FOID arrived today.  32 days from check clearing.  Still waiting on wife's.

32 days is still not OK as the law says 30.

DO you think the state would give us a 2 day leeway on anything?

.
What just happened?

Today is 90 days from when my check was cashed. Spoke to Judy she was very nice. Says I am still in background. Has been this way for about a month and a half. I have been calling every two weeks to check after the 30 days. Should I be calling my Rep yet?

Should've called your rep after the first 30 days... or at least 30 days after your check was cashed.

Chicago would make a fantastic wreck dive. Now, if we could only get it to fall into the lake....

Sent one in  a couple of weeks ago for my 12 year old grand son, figure he'd have it by the time he hit 18.
If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.
