Molly B. Posted August 10, 2011 at 09:35 PM Share Posted August 10, 2011 at 09:35 PM Since our first Chicago Second Amendment Freedom Rally to celebrate the Heller vs DC ruling in 2008, IllinoisCarry has undertaken a major effort in building a network of Second Amendment supporters in the city and to educate the good folks of Chicago about our Second Amendment rights and Right to Carry. Past rallies have been downtown in front of Mayor Daley's and Gov. Quinn's offices. That effort has been hugely successful and this year sponsors of the rally are taking the message and that network of supporters right out into the neighborhoods of the city itself. Instead of one rally, we are planning several throughout the different communities. We are very excited to announce our first rally will be in the heart of the black community where support for Right to Carry is rapidly gaining support. If you live in the Chicago/Cook County area, please feel free to print the attached flier, post it around the city/county and help get the word out about this important event. Dr. G Posted September 13, 2011 at 10:20 PM Share Posted September 13, 2011 at 10:20 PM I attended this event and would call it a success. There were only 50-60 people there, but considering that LaShawn had just held a meeting the week before with 200 in attendance and considering the socio-economic factors of the immediate area, I would definately call it a success. Speakers included, Patricia Hill- head of the African-American Police League, Talk show host Charles Butler, Lori Meriweather from the Second Amendment Sisters, Shawn Gowder from the Chicago Firearms Safety Association, Mike Weisman - 1st Vice President of the Illinois State Rifle Association, Dr. G from IllinoisCarry.com and keynote speaker (author, and president of the 10th Mountain Gun Club out of Baltimore Md.) the Rev. Kenneth Blanchard. There was not a single anti-gun person in the room. It seems that the only people who come out for these events, at least on this side of town, are pro gun people. We passed out info, answered questions and had a good time. We are stedy eating away at this elephant, one bite at a time.
