Do we have a generic flyer explaining to the uninformed what these Right-to-Carry Town Hall meetings are about?  I couldn't find one here on IC.

I got the message about this town hall out to the LeRoy Rifle and Pistol Club folks (250+ members) and also some of my non-gunny work associates in Bloomington, but didn't have much fodder to explain what it is all about.

A fantastic turn out for the McLean County Right to Carry town hall meeting tonight!!
300+ of some the nicest people you could ever want to meet -

A huge thank you to Jon and Marg Maier for a terrific job lining up all the speakers,
getting the great location, and for the tremendous job they and their group of volunteers
did to get the word out about the meeting.

This is truly what it is all about - good folks stepping forward in the fight for our
Second Amendment rights.  I felt honored to be among them!!

I hope everyone left inspired to get involved in not only the legislative process but the
election process as well!!

An aquantince of mine who attended the Champaign meeting also went to this one last night. Said it was a great turn out and he's been spreading the word about these meetings on some other forums telling people if they haven't been to one go.

Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks"

Gun-rights advocates gather at B-N town hall

BLOOMINGTON -- Gun-rights advocates at a town hall meeting Tuesday urged people to support candidates who favor laws allowing people to carry concealed weapons.

"All we're asking in this state is to be treated like we have a modicum of intelligence, a feeling for safety and a respect for human life that goes beyond being a gangbanger," former McLean County Sheriff Steve Brienen told the crowd of more than 300 people at the New Lafayette Club, 1602 S. Main St, Bloomington. "Is that so much to ask?"

Valinda Rowe, spokeswoman for IllinoisCarry.com, which sponsored the event, said Illinois is the last state to permit its residents to carry firearms in public. Wisconsin does not have a law permitting concealed carry, but its attorney general said the state cannot prohibit carrying weapons openly.

"We had two goals in holding this town hall meeting," said Rowe. "One goal was to encourage people who have questions about this issue; they're not sure about the carrying of concealed firearms and might be uncomfortable with the idea. We wanted them to come and listen to what our panel had to say about how successful carrying a firearm is in 49 other states.

"The other was to invite those in who support the issue and get them motivated to do something during the election process to help us secure that right."

Rowe asked the crowd to help oust state government leaders who have opposed gun-rights legislation, including House speaker Mike Madigan, Senate President John Cullerton and Gov. Pat Quinn.

"He has vowed to veto any concealed carry law that makes it to his desk," Rowe said of Quinn, a Democrat who is running against state Sen. Bill Brady, a Bloomington Republican.

Lex Green, a Bloomington resident running as the Libertarian candidate against Quinn and Brady, and David Gill, a Democrat seeking Tim Johnson's 15th Congressional District seat, also voiced support for a concealed-carry law, as did representatives for Brady and 11th Congressional District candidate Adam Kinzinger.

Other speakers on the panel were: Sheriff Mike Emery; Mike Weisman of the Illinois State Rifle Association; Ronald Dozier, a former state's attorney and retired circuit judge; and Sue Darnall, owner of Darnall Gun Works & Ranges in rural Bloomington.

"Illinois is a test case in defenselessness," said Weisman. "We've got to bring Illinois up to speed with the rest of the country."

I appreciate Mr. Greens support and I identify as a libertarain myself, but we don't need people coming along grabbing votes from Brady and splitting the vote.
