We have been out dropping Will Co. flyers for the past couple weeks. I betting Paula has hit most of the same places with the Cook one also.

Any way to confirm where the Cook Co. flyers were dropped off at? I'm planning on heading out tomorrow, and if any of these places already have the flyers I can pass them up.

Thanks, Bill

We had a town hall in Cook Co last night and now it's nearly 8:00 am the next day and no comments on how it went? This makes me nervous!

The organizers of the meeting were VERY pleased with the meeting last evening -

I counted nearly 200 in attendance and we had a good representation of the cultural mix

of the area and women.

Funny note on perspective - I commented to one of the other speakers that

I was thrilled with the number of women in the crowd, he laughed and said he was just thinking what

do we have to do to get more women to attend! It's all in looking at where we've been and how

far we've come! What is doubly thrilling is that the women who are attending are intense about the

issue of Right to Carry and ready to jump into action.

One young woman came up to us afterward and said she had always been ambivalent about guns but her

husband had always been a gun owner and encouraged her to be pro-gun and she just didn't get it . . .

until last night . . . now she says she's a changed person, now she gets why it is so important to

have the right to protect yourself and your family.

Dr. Paula Bratich of Second Amendment Sisters was the key organizer for the Cook Co. meeting and she did

a terrific job of putting together a top-notch panel of presenters. Nubian Malik, a fine young man from

the NEIU town hall meeting was the moderator. Speakers were Dr. G (Gerald Vernon), Neil Boot - retired Chicago

police officer and former Ex. Director of National Safety Council's Public Safety Group, David Lemieux - retired

Chicago police detective, IllinoisCarry member Frank Sharpe Jr. - Sr. staff instructor for Defensive

Training International, Dr. Paula Bratich - IL Coord. Second Amendment Sisters, Mike Weisman - 1st Vice President

of the ISRA, and Valinda Rowe - Spokesperson for IllinoisCarry.

One of the key goals of the town hall meetings is activate public support for Right to Carry and

we are seeing that very thing happen at all the town hall meetings! People are wanting to know

what they can do to help the cause and they are getting involved! Someone commented they thought

they would never see the day when a crowd like we had last night would turn out in Cook County to

show support for Right to Carry - and last night was just the beginning in one small part of the county.

Plans are already underway for town hall meetings all over the county!!

It went well. DR G spoke alongside Valinda and Mike W, as well as a retired CPD detective with some real insight into Chicago's crime problems. (I apologize for forgetting his name). Turnout was around 150 by my estimate, so a little low for being in a high population area. The crowd was about usual, mostly older folks with a handful of younger people mixed in. Mike usually asks by a show of hands whether he is "preaching to the choir". I always sit off to the side or at the back so I can get a feel for the room and I can say that as far as hands in the air, I think we reached a fair number of first timers at this one.

David Lemieux was the detective- Thanks Valinda!

I agree, I thought it was a good overall meeting and a good turn out. Speakers did a great job, and I believe, Nubian did a wonderful job of moderating. I agree with you Molly, I thought there was a large number of women in the crowd. I as a matter of fact, commented to my wife after I got home(she wanted, but couldnt make it) about the number of women present. Growing up and living majority of my life in the area,Another thing, I found quite surprising was amount of people that I actually knew there, but never knew they were or talked about to, the Right to Carry. Oh yeah, by the way, The Tongue depressor was a big hit with the wife, I brought it home and gave it to her, she got the biggest kick out of it. And this morning when she was getting ready to leave for work, she walked back in the door, and said"oh yeah, I almost forgot the most important thing", grabbed the tongue depressor, put it in her purse, and said"OK, now im safe and protected"

YES!!! That is the huge change we're seeing all over the Cook Co./Chicago area! Everyday citizens see a potential victory coming with McDonald vs Chicago, they are emboldened by the current increased violence and good, brave souls are beginning to step out to voice their support for gun ownership/carry.

We have turned a corner in this effort . . . things are moving and changing rapidly.

The meeting was great! Not quite as many people there as I had hoped to see. But, it was kinda held at a southern point of Cook. I came from literally the top right corner of cook, a good hour and 10 mins. Cook is a huge county. I wonder if anyone from Barrington(~1.5 hrs away) showed up. I'm sure the future planned meetings around Cook will have an even better turn outs. I'm sure a few were deterred because they didn't want to have to go through the city during rush hour. I had to, it was brutal! But worth it!

Here's a quick video pan around the room from the seat I was sitting in. All I had with me was my iPhone camera, so quality stinks, but you get the idea.
