Any Interest In A Kane County Meeting

I think it would be really good if the Cook County collar counties all got organized and showed Stroger and Daley that Chicago's and Cook County's views on firearms are the exception and not the rule even in the northeast portion of the state.

however, it would be best to plan on larger meeting place than the archery room.

I think bigJim was thinking more of an organizational meeting to get the group started not a major membership drive.

Sure you can go. If nothing else you can gather ideas and support to form a Kane County Right 2 Carry Association. I don't have a lot of time but I will certainly join a Kane county association.

I'm out of town from late February until late March. But if I'm here when it goes down, count me in.

I would like to have a meeting next week or two to form a committee to organize things.
The short term goal will be to put together a meeting for Kane County residents where they can learn about right to carry (open and concealed), where RTC stands in Illinois, where our elected officials stand on RTC and what individual citizens can do to help promote and obtain RTC in Illinois.
The long term goal will be to establish an organization within Kane County supporting RTC. This organization will be part of Illinois Carry and the ISRA.
At planing meeting we will solicit volunteers to own the following tasks:
1. Find a suitable location where we can hold a public meeting. The location must hold at least 200-300 people and has a good sound system.
2. Find sponsors who will help cover the expense of the meeting location (if we cannot find a free place to meet) and cover the cost of printing fliers.
3. Recruit 5-6 speakers (one from IllinoisCarry and one from the ISRA) along with community leaders within the county (county board members, current or retired sheriffs, judges, attorneys, board members of local shooting clubs, etc) who support the right to carry and who are willing to speak out on it.
4. Submit news releases to local papers and post fliers announcing the meeting throughout the county.
5. Recruit people to help out at the open meeting. This includes making sure the facility is clean after wards.
This will be a grass roots effort to promote RTC within Kane County. This will involve work. If you are willing to roll up your sleeves and help out then please post a reply below. If there is a particular evening you can or can not attend please indicate so. I intend for the planning meeting to start around 7:30 pm and be over by 9:00 pm. More then likely there will need to be at least two or three planning meetings before we will be able to host the public meeting. I will find a place to hold the planning meeting as soon as we have a group willing to be help out.

if i might offer up a couple of bits of advise.
If you want me or possibly others there, you need to consider the legislative session dates. this one works, but lets say there is a pro-2A gov candidate that would like to attend? do we want to have the possibility of pro-RTC legislators or others attend? If so, non-session nights work best.
If you can locate a municipal, city owned building or facility, tell them it's for a public informational town meeting, and you have a chance at getting the place for free. Holding regular meetings later on would, of course, be a whole different matter.
When you get the Who, What, Where, When nailed down let me know and I'll post it to the forum's calendar. This feature is located in the upper left corner of the web page.
