I have been thinking about this since attending McHenry County meeting last week. Is anyone interested?? There is almost 1 million population in Dupage County. This would be a voice that the rest of the State would listen to. Anyone, Anyone????

Dupage is a largely populated county with quite a few anti's.  I think this is a great idea.

Also if anyone has any ideas for a Pro 2a friendly place to met let us know too.

I believe that DuPage will be a home rule county after the 2010 census.  We'll have to have a presence there to keep bad ordinances off their radar.

The trap range in Naperville?  If I still lived there, I would say my backyard.  Kendall county is home now though.

Im in as well. The trap range in Naperville would be a good place to meet or maybe Gun World when it finally opens in Lombard. I have been talking to some of the Dupage County Board members and some of them seem to think that the county will not hit the million mark because there hasnt been significant growth in the past 2 to 3 years. Well see tho...

The ideal place for a meeting place would be a friendly restaurant with a private room that is near a major highway.

I'm in too. My only concern is that we work closely with Illinois Carry and the ISRA and not duplicate our efforts.

I would push for this to be a grassroots group of the ISRA much like Will County Grassroots and Knox County Grassroots

I would suggest a more gender neutral location.

Hmm, anticipate the pent up demand and have that first meeting in a big place.

McHenry was packed with 500 people.
However, they did spend a month getting the word out.

A VFW or American Legion Post will usually rent their facilities. (And they're 2A friendly!)

DuPage County Fairgrounds, where gun shows are held, but would probably be cost prohibitive.

Why not at the College of Dupage?  With large enough numbers an outdoor location would be unbeatable.

I have my Carhart cold weather gear, but it's COLD outside!

I wonder if we can use space inside the college. I know they have a number of larger classroom/lecture halls, even adjacent, offsite rooms the size of gymnasiums.

Look, I quoted myself.

I called COD, they no longer allow inside space to non student/staff (even to an Alumni). I do not know about outside space, as I kept getting transferred to people who had no idea (I ended up at the IT help desk).

How about the hall in Elmhurst the ISRA used for their meeting?
I think it was called the Diplomat West on Rt83.
