I called Utah today and the woman said they are way behind but they are currently working on about April 7 or 8. Mine should not be too much later I hope

Slowly, but surely mine will get here.

A educated guess is late this week, or next week sometime.

I wonder if Utah residents are complaining because of the long wait caused by all us out-of-staters applying for their LTC?  I expect as in other states a lot more Utah folks are applying too.

Remember the 1991 Luby Cafeteria Massacre of the Unarmed (Kileen, Texas before Texas Concealed Carry) Do we need 23 people to die in a similar incident before we're allowed effective self defense?

Utah permit info

The Utah permit requires training. The cost is 59.00. The Utah permit is good in 27 states.
And the renewal is only $10.  No nonsense, just send $10
The cost is $65.25 plus training $ 125.00

Took the class by the folks from CarrySafely.com on March 15, 2009 @ Cabelas in Hoffman Estates, IL.
Sent the documents in around April 1, 2009.
Credit card was charged May 22, 2009.
I received my permit in the mail on July 17th, 2009.  :thumbsup:

I plan to travel to the states that honor the permits and check out their National Parks next year when it becomes Federal law again.
Anyone have any good destination suggestions?

I was also thinking of buying the Maxpedition Versipack Thermite or FatBoy to carry my 4" XD and DSLR camera in the national parks rather than an IWB holster + camera bag.

Looks like UT doesn't consider a US passport proof of US Citizenship. I've dug up my "papers" and will have to send in a copy today.

I received my Utah concealed carry permit today.  It arrived exactly 3 months after my credit card was charged and 131 days after the application was mailed.

The letter I received with the permit stated that "this permit is valid contingent on a satisfactory criminal history report being received from the FBI.  You will be notified if the fingerprints are rejected, or of a revocation if the FBI criminal history report contains information of a disqualifying nature."

Apparently Utah is so backlogged that they are issuing the permits before the FBI background check is completed.

I got the same letter with mine.

I had the same letter when mine arrived today. Given the back log I think most everyone will be getting that letter with their permit.

It took about ninety days for my Utah permit total. I believe they have 60 days from the date they cash the check by state regulation to issue, likely why the contingency. I applied for my Florida permit in addition to Utah mailed it in August 4th. Gives me a few more states but since I have been active writing to our state officials I want to make a point in my communication that other states will grant me these rights and Illinois will not. Additionally the revenue that would be raised would be substantial from a training, tax and fee basis.

I am taking the Utah CCW at the Gander Mountain store in Geneva, IL on Sept 19.

Looking forward to it!  Especially when I go to Missouri, I'll be exercising my Secondment Amendment right.  No need to worry, fellow citizens, I'm a law-abiding citizen with training.  This little peace-keeper will keep you and me safe if the bad guys decide to go BOOM-BOOM-BOOM.

has anyone heard about this. possiblly add another state to utah ccw permit
The Nebraska legislature passed a stronger preemption and a reciprocity bill (LB430) this year. It takes effect in September.

It remains to be seen whether they will recognize the Utah permit as it is up to their AG to decide which states have "substantially equivalent" permit requirements. They have some weird requirements, so it is anyone's guess which states they will recognize. For example:

69-2432 (1)
...
(:headbang1: Knowledge and safe handling of handgun ammunition;
...
(e) Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws pertaining to the purchase, ownership, transportation, and possession of handguns;
...
(g) Knowledge of ways to avoid a criminal attack and to defuse or control a violent confrontation; and
(h) Knowledge of proper storage practices for handguns and ammunition, including storage practices which would reduce the possibility of accidental injury to a child.

I got my Utah a couple of months back and I sent in my Florida application in July and got it last week. That I think is as many states as I can get at this point with the State of Illinois being in its' current position. I want to encourage everyone on this site to begin to talk the importance of self defense to non-gun owners. When we talk to each other we all get it. I have had luck recently getting several non-gun owning women to understand that the state recommends a key, a comb and a tongue depressor as methods for self-defense they are amazed. (Most women agree that having a gun to stop a rape is better than using a tongue depressor to vomit on the attacker.)Then I ask if they feel that women in Indiana are smarter or more responsible than women from Illinois. Then I ask if they feel that women in Indiana should have more rights to self protection than women in Illinois and they become a little indignant. We need to mobilize the average citizen, especially women who are concerned with equal rights to self defense. Ask them to write their legislators and demand the same level of equality in women in states where concealed carry is the norm. Clearly one of the issues our people in Springfield listen to is when women demand egaul rights and protection from violence.
Keep the faith and our freedom!
