"A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks"

I wondering too. Sponsored by a Chicago democrat tells me it's no good. I'm wondering if his terminology and/or knowledge of weapons is lacking. No  language there yet to give away it's intent.

I wonder that about all of our elected Illinois officials. Including the ones that are helping us. *Rolls Eyes*

Its probably similar to Oak Park's Nuclear Free Zone.  Nuclear weapons, if you don't already know, are banned in Oak Park.

Safe Zone?!  :frantics:  I don't need to read a single word more to know what that means, and it's the most dangerous threat to human life in the carrying states.

I believe that bill is probably submitted with the intention of amending it as it goes.

Who knows how it will finally be worded?????????

So I just called this Rep's office and spoke with one of his assistants.  This is currently a "shell" bill because they are still working on the text.  They are supposed to contact me when it's completed.

The told me that this bill is an effort to help curb crime in their district.  I mentioned that automatic weapons are already federally banned (for the most part).  She said she understands that.  I asked how legislation on something that is already federally banned will help reduce crime.  She said, "that's why they're still working on it"

OK, now I feel much safer!

Representative André M. Thapedi (D) 32nd District Chicago, was just elected in 2008 and it sounds like he wants to just get a bill in the process. In my opinion, this is liberal lawmaking in it's purest state. "We know we NEED more gun laws, we just need more time to think of one."

My money is on something in the bill defining Automatic Weapon to include Semi-automatic.  Maybe with an ammendment to include revolver, just for good measure.
It's a wonderful day in the hood...
