I just got back from helping at the fair....and I must say I'm surprised at the turn out. We easily had more people at our booth than any of the others. We had a few people give us dirty looks, but we also got 60 signatures on our petition in three hours. All in all, I had a great time, even though ......I almost punched a guy in his Obama Button. Thanks to BigChris for the signs, they were an excellant attention getter. I have a feeling Kenny going to be punching out a lot of buttons in the next few days.

Kind Regards,

WOO HOO.........

Well folks, as promised here is a pic of the booth at the Winnebago County Fair. I just got home and I gotta tell you it was a big success. I'm still kind of pumped from talking to all the people tonight. A lot of people didn't even realize that 48 other states allow some form of CCW.

I'll bet from 5pm to 10pm we got over a hundred petition signatures, (and the place wasn't even that crowded)!

The tongue depressors were a big hit!

It says "Clothes don't make a man" It is a pic of a state trooper with his uniform on then a pic of him in plain clothes holding a rifle. I wish it was a pic with a pistol holstered I think it would make a better point.

Yeah! It would have worked better with a sidearm - as well as the rifle. (Both.)

You guys did great! Love the photo.

Great job guys. Did Randy ever stop by Kenny?

He called as I was leaving I only stayed until 7:00

I drove out just before the fair officially opened today, to do a quick recon of the AO.

Nice set up, an indoors location and just a few steps from the Republican and Democratic electioneering booths...interesting.

Think we'll get any traffic from those politcal booths?

I bet we get more traffic than the political booths, I'm sure people will find us more interesting.

There was a ton of traffic this afternoon.

Chris and the other couple in the booth kept very busy from what I saw as I defected my post on the other side of the curtain actually working for a living. I saw many patrons of the fair walking around with buttons on. Great job everyone. I am sure we made progress.

I am getting ready to go work the booth at the fair. I think we have handed out over 300 buttons so far!!!! I am taking the button maker & all the supplies to make more. I hope we don't run out this weekend. I had 650 buttons to start I made 200 more yesterday & should be able to make 200 more today I have a blister on my thumb from the circle cutter butt nothing a little duct tape can't fix. I just ordered 1000 more button parts today they will be in tomorrow or Sat hopefully because I think I only have enough parts for about 2-3 hundred more. I will report on the turnout at the fair when I get home or tomorrow morning.

Awesome, Kenny!

I was there last night for a few hours with Bill and Jim Webster (district 2) came by and helped out too. I was blown away by how awesome everything was setup. The posters were great (as usual) and it was remarkable how much print material we had there. Totally cool!! I'm going to stop by again after work and bring some "Maps of Death" aka gunmap.org stuff.

There was a woman and her husband last night who didn't know much about guns and we got to talking about the massacres. I was trying to tell her how every single massacre across the country has happened in a "gun free zone," and how these psychopaths choose those places on purpose. So maps of death are good to have.

I don't want any maps of death there. I like what we have. I think we have too much clutter as it is. I don't want to scare people I like the idea of the "c'mon in we are a great bunch of people" Not "YOU GOTTA VOTE WITH US OR YOU ALL ARE GOING TO DIE" What we have been doing is working great we have the most visited booth in Moss Hall and other vendors are already asking if we will be back next year because they want to request space next to us. I appreciate the offer Shaun but We have it under control for now.

The creator of it, a friend of mine -- Don Transue -- jokingly calls them maps of death (even though it's quite fitting). They aren't scary or anything.

They've been one of the most effective tools we've used to show people that concealed carry works. I don't think you know what I'm referring to.

Kenny, I was wondering if we should put out some of the PRO-2nd Ammendment County info?

I also think we should help to reimburse Kenny for his button making supplies, he is kind enough to make the buttons for us....he shouldn't go broke doing it.

Kind Regards,

I think our printing money would be better spent elsewhere as they have already passed the resolution.

I think that that map is over the top for the county fair audience. Marking the state of illinois with a hammer and sickle doesn't help.

The map that shows right to carry vs. selective carry vs. no carry is enough, and may be more helpful educating people in Illinois as to what the rest of the country is like on this issue.

A large map with some details for some states might help. Example:

ALASKA: No permits or license required to carry

FLORIDA: 1,372,928 Permits issued to date

TEXAS: 288,909 active permits issued

UTAH: Approximately 83,000 permits issued every year

VERMONT: No permits or license required to carry

ILLINOIS: ZERO permits issued. Defensive gun carry prohibited by law.

I haven't been able to make it because my cold got really bad. I sat at home and did some web work instead :frantics: Probably be doing the same thing tonight. I still have one of the exhibitors passes if anyone needs it. Give me a call at 815-986-7974 if so. Usually they're pretty good about letting exhibitors in without a pass. My wife got in without pass/ticket because she was with me. Jim got in for free, and so have others. If need be, get one of the guys at the booth to come out and get you in.

There's two really great features of the gunmap -- it's the most detailed one out there, and people who don't know much about CCW or are nervous about it inevitably bring up (or at least think about) the massacre angle. The map shows how Gun Free Zones (like our entire state) are slaughter zones for defenseless civilians.

This is the first time ever that I've heard of people referring to the map in a negative way at all. The creator of the map is on the radio just about every week talking about it -- the news loves it, etc etc.

SAK, I checked out that map and it doesn't look scary to me at all. It just has facts on it, nothing that would really scare anyone. I don't know why people are freaking out over it.
