I think it would be a great idea to have a thread for just the board members asking for help gathering infomation. I know they are swamped doing what they do and they are having problems getting the info they need. I figured if they post what they need in this thread allot of us can help them out and get the ball rolling faster.

So board members, let us know what info you need or any statistics. We can call and gather info so you can worry about bigger things, like getting this passed.

Thanks for adding this thread...I for one would like a list of the top 10 bullet points....hey, thats a pun "Bullet Points" so as we walk precincts we don't bore people to death with stats. One other thing we are going to need is financing for this. NO, I am not asking here, I am looking for ideas on who we can contact to do printing cheap but nice fliers. I think you know what I mean. Again, thanks for starting this for us.

Rock River Arms, Colt, Springfield Armory, and PK Firearms have been known to donate a firearm or two for raffles when the cause is good...such as now. May not hurt if someone has contacts with any firearm manufacturers (especially Illinois manufacturers) simply asks how the prodedure would work. Does anyone on the board have an FFL? If not, you will need a volunteer FFL dealer to handle the transfer to the winning bidder.

Personally I would like to see a Springfield M1A SOCOM II .308 up for auction again...I was short on cash for the last one! Your AR-15's in 5.56 seem to bring $800-$1000 each at auction, and the SOCOM II brought in $1800 at the last auction I attended (Not a bad deal for a $2800 rifle!). Of course, since the push is for CCW, A Colt Defender in .45 ACP, Springfield XD in 9mm or .45 ACP would be good options. Taurus makes a good conceal pistol with it's Millennium line of pistols (I like the .45 ACP that I have $460 price tag to buy new, and one yr NRA membership with new purchase to boot!). A good 1911 pistol from Beretta, Taurus, Colt, or any number of other companies would be a good thought for those who are supporting the cause in your county, especially if someone wants a permit but has yet to purchase a firearm to carry. The ISRA or NRA may be able to assist with information and contacts on how to pull off a benefit auction, I will also email a contact with "Friends of the NRA" since they are a not for profit organization who has had auctions down here before.

Next week I will be going down to my FFL dealer, he has offered raffles in the past, I'll see where his finances are sitting and see if he wants to jump in. I will need to know where the money will go (as specific as possible). Either post that here or PM me if you want to keep it fairly quiet.

As for Macon County, we still need someone to help figure out the legality of developing an ordinance. I have managed to gain support of board members (enough that we can at least get it to the full board to vote), we have the Sheriff on board as long as it doesn't add to much of a work force burden on his department. The State's Attorney is ready to go as soon as we know who he would have to answer to for electing not to prosecute for UUW if the citizen posses a valid permit. Since we can't seem to find any thing that clearly (or even questionably) states either that the county has the power to override state law when Civil Rights are at stake and the motion is backed by a US Supreme Court Ruling, or if the county does not have this power. Therefore, the Macon County SA just wants to know who will try to prosecute him directly, if anyone does. Help in this area would be GREATLY appreciated.

Seems to have come through quit conveniently, I'd say! Good luck on everything up there. Hopefully the time will be right for a full board vote soon, many are watching and waiting.
