Sorry guy's, I know there are too many threads regarding Winnebago County CCW.  I wanted to do a condensed version of all the topics to bring any new members up to speed.

* May 7th, Randy Olson and Doug Aurand present CCW resolution to the County Board.

* May 19th, First County Board meeting regarding Winnebago County CCW, there are about 20-30 individauls who pack the meeting room...mostly from IllinoisCarry.  IllinoisCarry members also met before the meeting at Giovanni's Restuarant for media coverage.  Preliminary use of our "paper buttons" was a big hit.  Thanks Buzzard.

* June 10th, First public forum regarding Winnebago County CCW.  It was estimated that about 175 poeple were in attendance, of those 40 spoke the issue of CCW.  All, but two speakers were for Concealed Carry.  Sheriff Dick Meyers also had a groundbreaking speech in favor of CCW, which brought many in attendance to their feet in applause.  A big thanks to Polhms1 and Fred Wescott for our improved buttons.

* June 24th, Sub-committee meeting, the board brought forth two resolutions...one for putting Illinois CCW on the voting ballot for November, and resolution to enact CCW in Winnebago County.  The board is looking for more information on CCW from around the country.  There were about 15 IllinoisCarry members in attendance.

*July 8th, Sub-committee meeting, the board discussed concealed carry information including facts from Gunfacts.  They will also gather additonal information to submit to the full board.  The committee also stated they were several other counties requesting information including one "larger County" who said their Sheriff and State Attorney are in favor.  There were about twenty in attendance.

*July 15th, Sub-committee meeting, the board continued to discuss the additional gathering of facts to address to the board.

* July 21st, This will be the next Sub-committee meeting, 5:30 at the Winnebago County Administration Building (5 floor).

Let me know if I forgot anything....

That may be us...depends on what they re calling a "Larger County". Macon County is considering the possibility. If we can get the legality figured out, I know we can get the Ordinance written and through Committee....but without KNOWING it is a legal possibility, it may be a stretch getting it through a full board vote. And Open carry is looking to be a probability in our Ordinance....FOID=Open Carry kind of thing. The RTCF (Right to Conceal Firearm permit will authorize you to choose your method of carry. Ours is going to be no where near as complex...hopefully. Simple is better. Just clear and to the point. Most of the length in ours will be explaining how and why it is legal for us to do so.

What is Winnebago doing as to the legality of over riding state authority?

Though I may no longer be enlisted, and no longer have an obligation to the U.S. Navy, I still have a moral obligation to my country, my freedom, and the protection of my family.

I will stand by that oath for as long as I live.

Home Rule Authority because they have a population in excess of 3,000,000. Any county can vote to be a home rule county, but most people fear higher taxes are associated with it (so I am told) therefore, getting home rule in the other 101 counties can be difficult.
