I just talked to our graphics guy he can get me yard signs like the politicians use for about $4 each but I have to buy 50 I was thinking I would want them to be able to be used in other counties when we are done so I was thinking somthing like "Support Concealed Carry HERE" with the www.Illinoiscarry.com at the bottom of the sign. Does anyone have a better idea I want to talk to people tomorrow night & see if I can get a few other people to buy some so I don't have to foot the whole bill they will take about 4 days to get in when I pull the trigger. Any suggestions or comments?

Thanks polhms1 for checking into the signs...I would be willing to take a few off your hands, if you decide to order them.

Somebody should call Corpro @ 816-633-1201 in Machesney Park, IL  they do awesome work and reasonable. Tell them I recommended them to you. The best and most durable ones are the corrugated plastic with H wires.

Way to go, Fred!!  I will listen in.  I was on WNTA with Ken DeCoster this morning, from 10:00 to 11:00.  It went well, I think.  His show always goes well, and 95% of his listeners are on our side

We plugged the meeting tomorrow about 100 times.  Even after I was off the air they were still talking about the meeting, so I think a lot of people from around here will show up too!  It's going to be nuts I think (and I HOPE!!!!!).  Muah hahahah!!!! </evillaugh>

Shaun, I tried to call you a couple of times today. I missed your call in but I did call Ken Decoster at noon when he was on a news break to let him know about the 130 or so comments on my web site. I have been personally contacted by several people that had not commented but just wanted to share info with me. If you would like to join me tonight on the air and can be at the studio at 5:45, please do. Otherwise, I am looking for someone to tape the show for my web site. Thanks

I have it recorded, it's 18 Mb MP3 file, if any one wants to host it on their server, let me know, I'll give it to you.

Polhms, were you one of the callers on that show ?

Polhms1, I'm coming up with a THR member from Springfield.  We'll try to get to your house beforehand, but it's a long drive so we'll have to wait and see.  I'll send you a PM and we can see about directions.

I think an informal meet n' greet after the meeting sounds about right.  We won't have long; I'd just like to take the chance to put names to faces.

Bring your stuff all the news crews will be there and they always record audio I'm sure the board members would love to have a video of it If you want me to I will call Jim Webster & confirm but I'm gonna say they don't care.

I really liked the plug for Forest City Firearms C,mon man cut me some slack. He is a small time dealer just like me. At least he is doing somthing about this issue not like Bullet Stop gun shop they are the only big gun shop around and they do nothing that does not benefit them, no classes or anything.

Was that you he cut off? The phones were going crazy and he was getting flustered. We were asked to come back on Wednesday for a follow up.

Fantastic radio show, folks.  Just superb.  Thank you Fred, thank you Shaun, and thanks to all the callers....on both sides of the issue.  It is crucially important to get these facts, and views, into the public discourse.  It is happening.

Again....kudos all around.

Alright here is what I plan to say tomorrow night if I get there soon enough, clean me up and give me suggestions for my 2 minutes.

Quote

Hello, my name is Chris I am not a Winnebago county residence; but I may soon be. I am a young professional who is looking to buy my first home. If Winnebago County decides to start issuing concealed carry licenses to county residences I will begin my search for a home of my own in Winnebago County.

Why would something such as Concealed Carry be something that would make me decided to move here?

I see buying a home of my own is my first step in my life that I wish to get married and have children; I understand that by getting married and having children causes me to have an increased responsibility to those people.

I understand that it is my duty to not only protect them but to also make sure that I come home because they would rely on me.

To the people who are against concealed carry, I urge you to bring us statistics and not just feelings about why you view concealed carry is a bad thing.

We need to understand that concealed carry is a first response tool, I don’t think I am a firefighter because I have a fire extinguisher, I don’t think I am a doctor because I have a first aid kit.

I do not look for situations that will put me in harms way and by having a concealed carry permit that will not change but will allow me to be safer as I go on about my business day by day.

Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little.
- Edmund Burke

I'd like to call in and voice my opinion on Wednesday if you could let me know what time and a phone number?

Great job to everyone involved, thanks for helping the movement out, Fred.

I was impressed with the woman who thought that concealed carry would increase crime, and I think it was Shaun who corrected her and said that it has been exactly the opposite in the other 48 states, she should check it out for herself... She sounded VERY surprised to find out that CCW was already in over 90% of the country. Most people are surprised to find that out as well, and wonder why they haven't heard any of the doomsday predictions come true?

Also, one of our members here Hodgie made an IllinoisCarry.com shirt on CafePress. Maybe these would be good attire for the meetings? I may be ordering one online to wear to school next semester.

I think its a good idea if we are uniform with shirts or buttons, but nothing with an actual gun on it...

Absolutely, we discussed this and we all agreed not to wear any "gun garb" to these meetings.
We MUST keep in mind, that we are dealing with people that are SCARED of guns!
These very same people are PUNISHING children for DRAWING PICTURES OF GUNS in school.
It is imperative that we leave the GUN SHOW attire at home in the closet.

Ah I see I see... maybe the shirt isn't such a good idea for the meetings then. What do you guys think about wearing it around elsewhere (to class, etc)?

It's a nice shirt, but it would be up to Blaster to decide how IllinoisCarry is used. Though in some schools, you may be told any gun logo is inappropriate. I wouldn't be surprised, because I believe it's already happened.

Don't get me wrong, I have a favorite biker shirt that says "Why waltz when you can Rock 'n' Roll?" which has a picture of a Thompson machine gun on it. But when I visited driver education classes to speak about motorcycles, that one stayed at home.

Sorry guys, no shirt and tie for me. I dress like a biker when I go to Springfield to lobby, and I'll be attending the meeting that way too. Nobody seemed to mind last time.

Absolutely agreed.

You folks make this all about guns and you will be shooting yourselves and the movement right in the foot.  Probably in both feet.

This issue is about safety, responsibility, family, and protection.  Not about guns.  Win their hearts and minds, first ... everyone can relate to safety and family ... but only some of us can relate to firearms.  As much as some of us hate politics, they are reality.   Be politic about this.

Hi all,

I stumbled across the site in my periodic perusing of the web for info on how much further IL was moving constitutionally, when lo and behold, I read the article about Winnebago County's proposal.  Talk about terrific news.

I live in Elgin, but conveniently, I work a whopping mile and a half from where the meeting in Rockford will be taking place, so I definitely plan to be there to offer support as well.

Oh, and since I'm no public speaker, I'll throw this out there for you guys that are. If someone brings up how "It's going to turn into the Wild West with shootouts in the street," which they invariably will bring up (oh how I loathe that comment), aside from the fact that it's never happened in any of the CCW states, they should really read history, because it didn't happen in the supposedly 'wild' west, either. The grandiose shootouts at high noon and whatnot are a Hollywood creation.

Anyways, glad to see a bunch of people trying to support our rights, and I look forward to seeing some of you tonight.

-Jordan
